PC Notes:

  • MBK: Radford 84 – PC 76… The Blue Hose men’s basketball team took on the #2 seeded Radford Highlanders in the second round of the Big South Basketball Tournament in Buies Creek, NC yesterday… The Blue Hose found themselves trailing by14 midway through the second half and were able to cut that lead down to 3 in the last couple of minutes of the game but could get no closer as the Highlanders took an 84-76 win over the scrappy Blue Hose… For more information on this game, click here… The Blue Hose end their season with an 18-15 overall record while Radford improved to 21-10.

  • WBK: Gardner-Webb 67 – PC 62… The Lady Blue Hose were in action on Wednesday as they traveled up to Gardner-Webb to take on the Runnin Bulldogs… The two teams were tied 15-15 at the end of the first quarter but the Blue Hose found themselves trailing 30-22 at the half… That proved to be the difference in the game as the Blue Hose outscored the Bulldogs in the second half but came up a little short as Gardner-Webb took a 67-62 win… For more information on this game, click here… PC will close out its regular season tomorrow as they host Radford at the Templeton Center with tipoff scheduled for 2:00 pm.

Local Notes:

CHS:

  • Baseball: Clinton 9 – Broome 1… The Red Devil baseball team finally got to play a home game last night but because of field conditions at the baseball field on the campus of CHS, they had to plat at their old home field The Sponge on the campus of CMS… There they hosted the Broome Centurions… Clinton got on the board first plating 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning and led 3-1 going into the bottom of the sixth inning where they broke the game open scoring 6 runs and going on to a 9-1 win… Griffin Fuller led the Red Devils at the plate as he went 4 for 4 with a triple a double and 2 singles… Kimon Quarles, Blake Smith and Chance Ewell each had 2 hits for the team… Ewell picked up the win pitching 6 strong innings giving up the 1 earned run while striking out 7 and walking 2… For the game’s box score and some stats, click on the following: 3-7-19-CBB-Broome… For the games scorecard, click on the following: 3-7-19-CBB-Broome-SC.

LDHS:

  • Baseball: Laurens 9 – Emerald 2… The Laurens Raider baseball team boarded the bus late yesterday afternoon and travelled down to Greenwood to take on the Emerald Vikings… I have a feeling that the ride home seemed short as the Raiders defeated the Vikings 9-2… The Raiders got on the board first in the 4th inning when they plated 4 runs and the Vikings plated 2 in the bottom of the inning to take a 4-2 lead… After that it was all Raiders as the scored single runs in the 5th & 6th innings and added 3 insurance runs in the 7th… The Raiders picked up those 9 runs on 6 timely hits and were aided by 3 Viking errors and 6 walks… Jalen Bragg and Kobe Williams each had 2 of the Raiders 6 hits… Eric Jones picked up the complete game win for the Raiders….
