Laurens Police were notified Wednesday evening of a missing wallet. The owner of the wallet indicated he discovered his wallet missing when he returned home. He said he had been at the El Cheapo store on North Harper and had walked to an adjoining store.
Surveillance video reportedly showed he dropped his wallet on the walkway between the two stores. The video also reportedly shows an unknown male picked up the wallet, took it into the store, then returned to his car and left the parking lot.
A store clerk said the man had left the wallet but didn’t say anything about it. She did not recognize the man.
After getting his wallet back, the man said he found nothing missing, but noted it seems things were moved about and returned to the wallet. He expressed concern about identity theft.
