PC Notes:

  • MBK: Marshall 83 – PC 66… The PC men’s basketball team saw their season come to an end last Tuesday night as Marshall took an 83-66 win over PC at Marshall in a quarterfinal game of the Tournament… The game was tied 56-56 midway through the second half when Marshall went on a 29-10 streak to win the game… For more information on this game, click here… PC ends its season with a 20-16 record which I believe is their best since making the jump to D-I status.
  • Kern Accepts Appalachian State Position… Now the success of the PC men’s team under second year head coach Dustin Kerns turned out to be a mixed blessing for PC as it was announced yesterday that Kerns has accepted a position at Appalachian State as their new head men’s basketball coach… For more information on Kerns and his acceptance of this position, click here.

Local Notes

CHS Red Devils:

  • Boys Soccer: Woodruff 1 – Clinton 0 in OT… Back on Wednesday the Red Devil boys’ soccer team hosted the Woodruff Wolverines over at the PC soccer field… The contest was a scoreless defensive battle all through the regulation time period… It remained that way until there was about 1 minute left in overtime when Woodruff got the only goal of the game to take the win… Heartbreaker… For more information on this contest, click here.
  • Girls Soccer: Woodruff 6 – Clinton 0… The Red Devil girls’ soccer team traveled to Woodruff on Tuesday and the news is not good here either as the Wolverines took a 6-0 win… Sorry no other details.

LDHS: Raiders:

  • Softball: Laurens 9 – Greenwood 1… The Raider softball team hosted the Greenwood Eagles last night in region action and it was a good night for the Raiders as they took a 9-1 win over the Eagles… The Raiders only had 7 hits in the game but they made full use of them plus used 4 Greenwood errors and some aggressive base running to take the win…  As a matter of fact the Raiders first run came on a 4 base error that allowed Cassie Plaia to speed around the bases and score without the ball leaving the ball park… The Raiders plated another run in the inning and never looked back… They scored in every inning they played except the 4th… Rachel Delio picked up the win giving up the 1 unearned run on 2 hits while striking out 10 and walking none… Vanessa Harshaw led the Raiders at the plate going 2 for 3… For the game’s box score and some stats, click on the following: 3-28-19-3-LSB-Greenwood… For the games scorecard, click on the following:3-28-19-3-LSB-Greenwood-SC … The Raiders are back at home tonight as they host the Wade Hampton Generals and we plan on bringing you that game.
  • Tennis… The Raider boys’ tennis team had 2 matches this week… On Tuesday they hosted the Easley Green Wave and fell by a score of 4-2… Murphy Rush and Walt Womble picked up wins in singles action for the Raiders… Then on Wednesday the Raiders traveled to Westside and good news here as the Raiders took a 7-0 win over the Rams… Murphy Rush, Will Adams, Walt Womble, Brooks Nelson and William Yates all picked up wins in singles action… Rust and Adams teamed up to take a win as the #1 doubles team while David Hampton and Hampton Barker took a win as the # 2 doubles team… Now for more information on either of these tennis matches, click on their score.
