CHS Red Devils:

  • Baseball: Clinton 14 – Chesnee 10… Last Thursday the Red Devil baseball team stepped out of region play as they hosted the Chesnee Eagles… The Red Devils lead 4-3 going into the 4th inning when the Eagles struck for 7 runs to go up 10-4… The Red Devils came right back in the bottom of the inning and scored 8 runs themselves and then went on to take a 14-10 win… The Red Devils outhit the Eagles 13-12 with Griffin Fuller going 3 for 4 with a double and 4 RBIs to lead Clinton at the plate… Jaylin Alexander was credited with the win and Konnor Richardson with the save… For the game’s box score and some stats, click on the following: 4-4-19-CBB-Chesnee… For the games scorecard, click on the following: 4-4-19-CBB-Chesnee-SC

 

  • Baseball: Emerald 2 – Clinton 0… The Red Devils were right back in action last Friday night as they traveled to Emerald to take on the Vikings… Unlike the night before when there was a total of 24 runs scored in Friday’s game with Emerald there were only 2 runs scored and they were both scored by Emerald as they took a 2-0 win over the Red Devils… The Vikings had 5 hits in the game and they got 3 of them in the first inning on a pair of singles and a double scoring both their runs… The Red Devils managed only one hit in the game and that was a single by Griffin Fuller… Caleb Riddle took the loss striking out 5 and walking none… For the game’s box score and some stats, click on the following: 4-5-19-CBB-Emerald… For the games scorecard, click on the following: 4-4-19-CBB-Chesnee-SC… The Red Devils are scheduled to travel to Gaffney today weather permitting

 

 

LDHS: Raiders:

  • Softball: Laurens 8 – Westside 3… The Raider softball teams traveled to Anderson last Friday night to take on the Westside Rams… In varsity action the Raiders took an 8-3 win… The Raiders wasted little time getting on the board as Kauree Munyan had a 2-run homer in the 1st inning to put the Raiders up 2-0… They added a pair of runs in the 2nd and a single run in the 3rd. before Westside finally got their 3 runs in the 5th inning… The Raiders had 9 hits with Rachel Delio and Micheala Smith getting 2 hits each… Delio also picked up the win striking out 12 and walking 1… She gave up 3 runs of which only 2 were earned on 3 hits… For the game’s box score and some stats, click on the following: 4-5-19-LSB-Westside… For the games scorecard, click on the following: 4-5-19-LSB-Westside-SC… Weather permitting the team is scheduled to host the Clinton Red Devils today at 7:30 in a game that can be heard here on Real Radio 860 and 104.1 WLBG as well as streaming live on the internet at www.wlbg.com.

 

Laurens Academy Crusaders:

  • Softball: Richard Winn 18 – Crusaders 3… Last Thursday the Crusader softball teams hosted the Eagles of Richard Winn… Richard Winn lead 5-1 going into the top of the 3rd inning when the Eagles put 12 runs on the board and then went on to take an 18-3 win over the Crusaders… The Eagles only outhit the Crusaders 9-4 and only 6 of the Eagles’ runs were earned as the Crusaders had 7 errors, walked 9 and had 7 wild pitches… Mattie Grace Noffz, Morgan Marlett and Blair Quarles had the 3 hits for the Crusaders with Quarles hit being a double… For the game’s box score and some stats, click on the following: 4-4-19-LASB-Richard-Winn… For the games scorecard, click on the following: 4-4-19-LASB-Richard-Winn-SC

 

 

College Notes:

  • Women’s D-1 Championship: Baylor 82 – Notre Dame 81… Well the true basketball FANS ALREADY KNOW THAT Baylor took an 82-81 win over Notre Dame to win the Women’s national Championship last night… For more on this, click here
  • Men’s D-1 Championship Tonight… Also the true college basketball fans also know that Texas Tech and Virginia will meet tonight for the men’s championship and that can be seen on CBS (WSPA Channel 7) with tipoff scheduled for 9:20 pm.

  • Braves… The Braves finished their first home stand of the season hosting the marlins… On Friday the Braves took a 4-0 win over the Marlins but the Fish turned the tables on Saturday taking a 4-2 win… In the final game yesterday the Braves took a 4-3 win… The Braves are now 5-4 on the season and head to Colorado for a 3-game series with the Rockies starting tonight at 8:40 pm.
  • Drive… The Greenville Drive finished their 4-game series with the West Virginia Power at Flour Field over the weekend… On Friday they took a 3-2 win over the Power but Saturday fell to the Power by a score of 6-5… Yesterday the Drive took a 6-5 win to even their season record at 2-2…. The Drive now play host to the Augusta GreenJackets tonight at 7:05 in the first of a 3-game series with Augusta.

 Tickets on Sale for Laurens County Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony… The Laurens County Sports Hall of Fame will induct five members into its third class on April 25, 2019… The induction ceremony will be held at The Ridge at Laurens at 6:30pm… Tickets for the induction banquet will go on sale on Monday, March 25 at the Clinton YMCA, Laurens YMCA and Farm Bureau in Laurens… Individual tickets are $25 and include a meal catered by Lee’s BBQ… For more information on the Laurens County Sports Hall of Fame, visit www.laurenscountysportshalloffame.com or email bdunlap@golaurens.com… For more information about the members being inducted, current remembers and the hall of fame itself, click here.

 

3rd Annual Kick for Kids Kickball Festival… The Bridging the Gap Advocacy organization along with the Laurens Family YMCA and the Laurens School District 55 will be having their 3rd Annual Kick for Kids Kickball Festival at the legendary Sanders Death Valley Football on Park Place off Farley Avenue on Saturday, April 27th… This event is a fundraiser to help promote awareness of bulling, domestic violence and hemophilia… The admission will be $1.00 and in addition to the kickball festival… Concessions will be available that include hotdogs, chips, drinks and Krispy Kreme donuts which will all be for sale… There will also be jump houses, corn hole games and door prizes… If you would like to enter a team (of up to 25) the cost is $50 until April 15th… After that the cost to enter jumps to $75 per team… To enter a team or if you have any questions contact Mr. Calvin Whitmire P.O. Girls Volleyball at the Ridge… The Laurens Recreation Department has begun its 2019 Volleyball registrations. The league is open to any female ages 7-14.  The cost is $60.  The last day to register will be April 24th with the first night of participation being April 29th at 5:30.  All practices and games will be held at The Ridge and will take place on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.  All players must provide their own knee pads.  For more information please visit the Ridge at 301 Exchange Drive or call 681-7275
