Local Notes:

Athletic Postponement Yesterday

Clinton HS.

  • Yesterday’s boys’ soccer matches @ Woodruff will be played today. The matches with Providence Athletic. Club have been cancelled.”
  • The C-team baseball game was postponed until Wednesday 4/17
  • The JV and Varsity baseball games at Woodruff were postponed until Thursday 4/11
  • The softball games have been rescheduled for Thursday 4-11 at Woodruff


  • The softball games with Woodmont scheduled for yesterday will be played today at LDHS.
  • The home golf match was been canceled.
  • The JV Baseball game scheduled for Monday will be made up on Thursday at 5:00 at LDHS.

Laurens Academy

  • Yesterday’s baseball game at Newberry Academy was postponed due to poor field conditions and impending bad weather. A makeup date will be announced once it is finalized.


CHS Red Devils:

  • Girls Soccer: Woodruff 6 – Clinton 3… The Clinton girls soccer team was able to get their match in with the Woodruff Wolverines and despite playing what Coach Benson said was “Definitely one of our best performances of the year” Clinton still fell to the Wolverines by a score of 6-3… Madison Bagwell had 2 goals for the Red Devils and Abby Collins the third one… For more details on this match and more comments from Coach Benson, click here… You will also find out there that the JV team lost 2-1 to Woodruff.


LDHS: Raiders:

  • Baseball: Laurens 10 – TL Hanna 3… The Laurens Raider baseball team was able to get its game in with the TL Hanna Yellow Jackets in Anderson mainly because the Yellow Jackets (and the Westside Rams) have field turf on their athletic fields… Good news for Raider fans as the Raiders came home with a 10-3 win… The Raider bats were hot last night as they pounded out 13 hits while Tanner Smith and the Raider defense limited the Jackets to just 4 hits while striking out 8 and walking 3… The Yellow Jackets actually led 2-1 going into the 4th inning when the Raiders put 3 runs on the board and added 3 more in the 5th and never looked back… Heath Bragg and Zac Rice both had 3 hits for the Raiders with Bragg driving in 2 runs while Rice had a double and drove in 3 runs… For the game’s box score and some stats, click on the following: 4-9-19-LBB-Hanna… For the games scorecard, click on the following: 4-9-19-LBB-Hanna-SC… The Raiders step out of region play tonight as they host the Clinton Red Devils in a JV-Varsity double header and we do plan on bringing you the varsity game here on Real Radio 860 and 104.1 WLBG as well as streaming live on the internet at

  • Braves 7 – Rockies 1… The Braves made picked up their second consecutive win over the Rockies out in Colorado as they took a 7-1 win… Ronald Acuna homered for the 4th time this season in the 2nd inning and Dansby Swanson had a 2-run homer in the 4th inning which was also his 4th round-tripper of the season.
  • Drive 2 – Augusta 1…  After being rained out in August on Monday the Greenville Drive were scheduled to play a doubleheader of baseball against the Augusta GreenJackets but Mother Nature had other ideas as rain limited them to 1 game but good news for Drive fans as thee Drive took a 1-0 win.

Tickets on Sale for Laurens County Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony… The Laurens County Sports Hall of Fame will induct five members into its third class on April 25, 2019… The induction ceremony will be held at The Ridge at Laurens at 6:30pm… Tickets for the induction banquet will go on sale on Monday, March 25 at the Clinton YMCA, Laurens YMCA and Farm Bureau in Laurens… Individual tickets are $25 and include a meal catered by Lee’s BBQ… For more information on the Laurens County Sports Hall of Fame, visit or email… For more information about the members being inducted, current remembers and the hall of fame itself, click here.


3rd Annual Kick for Kids Kickball Festival… The Bridging the Gap Advocacy organization along with the Laurens Family YMCA and the Laurens School District 55 will be having their 3rd Annual Kick for Kids Kickball Festival at the legendary Sanders Death Valley Football on Park Place off Farley Avenue on Saturday, April 27th… This event is a fundraiser to help promote awareness of bulling, domestic violence and hemophilia… The admission will be $1.00 and in addition to the kickball festival… Concessions will be available that include hotdogs, chips, drinks and Krispy Kreme donuts which will all be for sale… There will also be jump houses, corn hole games and door prizes… If you would like to enter a team (of up to 25) the cost is $50 until April 15th… After that the cost to enter jumps to $75 per team… To enter a team or if you have any questions contact Mr. Calvin Whitmire P.O. Girls Volleyball at the Ridge… The Laurens Recreation Department has begun its 2019 Volleyball registrations. The league is open to any female ages 7-14.  The cost is $60.  The last day to register will be April 24th with the first night of participation being April 29th at 5:30.  All practices and games will be held at The Ridge and will take place on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.  All players must provide their own knee pads.  For more information please visit the Ridge at 301 Exchange Drive or call 681-7275
