1st Degree Burglary Alleges Assault on Neighbor

A Wattsville community resident has been charged with a break-in and assault of a neighbor this past weekend. The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office yesterday booked 35-year-old Darrell Rico Johnson of 12 Hammett Street, Laurens and charged him with 1st Degree Burglary. The warrant cites an investigation of Lt. Byrd as indicating that on April 13th Johnson entered the dwelling of another Hammett Street resident with intent to commit a crime therein. The Saturday incident reportedly happened at night with Johnson causing physical harm to the victim by kicking her in the ribs and by striking her multiple times in her face with a closed fist. Darrell Rico Johnson was being held in the Johnson Detention Center overnight, awaiting a bond hearing today on his 1st Degree Burglary charge.
