CHS Red Devils:

  • Baseball: Clinton 10 – Newberry 3… The Red Devil varsity baseball team hosted the Newberry Bulldogs on Senior Night in their last region game of the regular season… They came into the game knowing that if they wanted to keep their playoff hopes alive they had to defeat the Bulldogs last night and then hope that Mid-Carolina can knock off Woodruff tonight… Well the Red Devils took care of their part of that scenario last night as they took a 10-3 win over the Bulldogs…The Red Devils wasted little time in getting control; of the game as they scored 4 runs in the 1st inning and added 3 more in the 2nd inning… They added their last 3 runs in the 5th inning… The Red Devils had 10 hits in the game and both Caleb Riddle and Glavin Alexander led the team with 2 hits each….The Red Devils used 3 pitchers in the game with Caleb Riddle getting the start and both Chance Ewell and Davis Wilson getting in relief work… For the game’s box score and some stats, click on the following: 4-16-19-CBB-Newberry… For the games scorecard, click on the following: 4-16-19-CBB-Newberry-SC… The Red Devils now must wait and see if the Mid-Carolina Rebels can knock odd the Wolverines… Go Rebels!


LDHS: Raiders:

  • Baseball: Easley 2 – Laurens 1… The Laurens Raider varsity baseball team hosted the Easley Green Wave in an import ant region match up… The two teams were locked in a pitcher’s duel which the Green Wave took by a score of 2-1… Easley scored first in the top of the 5Th inning going up 1-0… In the bottom of the 6th inning the Raiders tied the on a solo homer by Jalen Bragg to centerfield tying the game with his third homerun of the season…. Heath Bragg got the start for the Raiders and pitched 6⅔ innings giving up 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 6 and walking 3… Jalen Bragg took the loss pitching just ⅓ of an inning and giving up the winning run on 2 hits…. The Raiders had only 3 hits on the night all by different players… For the game’s box score and some stats, click on the following: 4-16-19-LBB-Easley… For the games scorecard, click on the following: 4-16-19-LBB-Easley-SC…The Raiders are locked in a battle for 3rd place in the region with the Greenwood Eagles who took a 10-4 win at JL Mann last night making the Raiders final region game on Thursday at Easley even more critical in determining playoff seeding… The Raiders are back in action today at 6:00 pm as they host the Ninety Six Wildcats in non-region play in a game that we plan on broadcasting.

  • D-Backs 9 – Braves 6… The Braves and the D-backs started a series yesterday in Atlanta with D-backs picking up a 9-6 win over the Braves…. The game was tied 6-6 going into the 9th inning where the D-backs scored 3 runs in the top of the inning then held the Braves scoreless in the bottom of the inning to take the win…
  • Drive 4 – RiverDogs 3The Greenville Drive got back on track last night as they took a 4-3 come-from behind win over the Charleston RiverDogs last night down on the coast of SC… They trailed 3-2 going into the 7th inning where they scored 2 runs and then held on for the win. .. The two teams finish out the 3-game series today at 11:05 am with a series win on the line.

Tickets on Sale for Laurens County Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony… The Laurens County Sports Hall of Fame will induct five members into its third class on April 25, 2019… The induction ceremony will be held at The Ridge at Laurens at 6:30pm… Tickets for the induction banquet will go on sale on Monday, March 25 at the Clinton YMCA, Laurens YMCA and Farm Bureau in Laurens… Individual tickets are $25 and include a meal catered by Lee’s BBQ… For more information on the Laurens County Sports Hall of Fame, visit or email… For more information about the members being inducted, current remembers and the hall of fame itself, click here.


3rd Annual Kick for Kids Kickball Festival… The Bridging the Gap Advocacy organization along with the Laurens Family YMCA and the Laurens School District 55 will be having their 3rd Annual Kick for Kids Kickball Festival at the legendary Sanders Death Valley Football on Park Place off Farley Avenue on Saturday, April 27th… This event is a fundraiser to help promote awareness of bulling, domestic violence and hemophilia… The admission will be $1.00 and in addition to the kickball festival… Concessions will be available that include hotdogs, chips, drinks and Krispy Kreme donuts which will all be for sale… There will also be jump houses, corn hole games and door prizes… If you would like to enter a team (of up to 25) the cost is $50 until April 15th… After that the cost to enter jumps to $75 per team… To enter a team or if you have any questions contact Mr. Calvin Whitmire P.O. Girls Volleyball at the Ridge… The Laurens Recreation Department has begun its 2019 Volleyball registrations. The league is open to any female ages 7-14.  The cost is $60.  The last day to register will be April 24th with the first night of participation being April 29th at 5:30.  All practices and games will be held at The Ridge and will take place on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.  All players must provide their own knee pads.  For more information please visit the Ridge at 301 Exchange Drive or call 681-7275
