Sports Report for Friday, 4-19-2019

PC Notes: Click on the score for any game(s) listed below to get more information on that game.

  • Baseball: Davidson 10 – PC 8… Back on Tuesday the Blue Hose traveled up to Davidson to take in the Wildcats… The trip home probably seemed a little longer than the trip up as Davison took a 10-8 win.
  • Baseball: PC 6 High Point 0.The team returned to action yesterday as the hosted the High Point Panthers…. Better news here as the Blue Hose took a 6-0 win over the Panthers… The teams are schedukled to play again today at 3:00 pm and again tomorrow at 1:00.
  • Softball: App State 4 – PC 1… Back on Tuesday the Blue Hose softball team hosted the Mountaineers of .Appalachian State… They were just topo nice of a host as App. State took a 4-1 win….The team returns to action hosting the Campbell Camels in 3-game series starting today at 3:00 pm (weather permitting) and doubleheader tomorrow at 11:00 am.

Local Notes:

CHS Red Devils:

  • Red Devil Softball Team Plays Monday… The Clinton Red Devil and Emerald Viking softball teams tied for third in their region after all region play had concluded… Therefore they need to play a 1-game tie breaker to determine who is seeded their and who is seeded fourth in their region for playoff bracket purposes… That game will take place at 6:00 pm next Monday at the Laurens Rider softball field… You Red devil fans need to go ahead and mark your calendar for 6:00 pm next Monday and come on out and cheer the Red Devils on!

LDHS: Raiders:

  • Baseball: Easley 3 – Laurens 1… The Raider baseball team traveled to Easley yesterday to take on the Green Wave for the second time in 3 days in their final regular season game… Just like it was on Tuesday when the Green Wave took a 2-1 win over the Raiders at Ed Prescott Field, this game was also a low scoring affair as the Green wave took a 3-1 win over the Raiders… The Raiders only run came in the first inning when Jalen Bragg singled to lead off the game and later scored on an RBI single by Zac Rice…. After that the Raiders managed just 3 more hits and had a runner at third in the second inning with no outs but just could not get him in… Easley scored all 3 of their runs in the 2nd inning on 1 hit. A pair of walks and a pair of Raider errors so that only 1 of the 3 runs was earned….Heath Bragg had 2 of the Raiders 5 hits and one of his was a double…  For the game’s box score and some stats, click on the following: 4-18-19-LBB-Easley… For the games scorecard, click on the following: 4-18-19-LBB-Easley-SC
  • Raiders in the Playoffs… Not Sure?… The Raiders came into last night’s game need in a win to pretty much assure themselves of a spot in the playoffs which start next Tuesday… The loss but 3 teams tied for the fourth and fifth spots in the region which will make the playoffs…  Easley, Westside and the Raiders all have a 7-7 region record…. Of course the Green Wave beat the Raiders in both their games with each other while Easley split with Westside and Laurens and Westside also split in their two games with each other… Bottom line, I don’t know the tie-breaking rules for the region so I’ll have to wait and find out from Coach Patterson today.

Laurens Academy Crusaders:

  • Baseball: Upstate Home School 18 – Crusaders 17… The Laurens Academy Crusader baseball team was back in action as they hit the road to take on Upstate Home School which I believe is located in the Spartanburg area… Well a moment ago I told you that Laurens and Easley were involved yesterday in a low scorn (3-1) ball game yesterday… Well that was not the case with the Crusaders and Upstate as they 35 runs between them but unfortunately Upstate took an 18-17 win scoring the winning run in the bottoms of the 7th inning in walk-off fashion…   The Crusaders had 12 hits with Dawson Foster leading the Crusaders going 4 for 5 while scoring 4 runs and driving in 3…  For a look at the box score of the game click on the following: 4-19-19-LA-BB-UpstateHomeSchool.

Pro Baseball: Click on the score for any game(s) listed below to get more information on that game.

  • D-Backs 4 – Braves 1…. The Atlanta Braves finished their current homestand with a 4-1 loss to the D–backs last night and that gave the D-backs a sweep of the series… The Braves start a road trip tonight with the first stop being in Cleveland where they start a series with the Brewers.
  • Drive 4 – Braves 0The Greenville Drive defeat the Rome Braves at Flour Field last night by a score of 4-0… Weather permitting the two teams will play again tonight and tomorrow and have Sunday off.
