Local Notes:

CHS Red Devils:

  • Softball: Chesnee 13 – Clinton 1… The Red Devil softball team opened up its participation in the playoff last night on a less than stellar note as they travelled to Chesnee and the Eagles sent the Red Devils back home with a 13-1 loss… As Coach Caughman put it “they were the hammer and we were the nail”…. Chesnee scored 7 runs in the second inning to go up 8-0 and the Red Devils just could not recover as they had only 1 hit on the night… The Red Devils only run came in the third inning when Maddie Wood walked and after moving up when another Clinton batter was hot by a pitch and a wild pitch scored on a groundout… For the game’s box score and some stats, click on the following:4-25-19-CSb-Chesnee-PO … For the games scorecard, click on the following: 4-25-19-CSb-Chesnee-PO-SC
  • Red Devils Play Tomorrow… The Red Devils now move on to play Fairfield Central at home at 10:00 am tomorrow in an elimination game…. Go Big Red

LDHS: Raiders:

  • Softball: Byrnes 21 – Laurens 0… Somebody once said some days you get the bear and other days the bear gets you… Well last night as the Raider softball team traveled to Byrnes HS to open their participation in the playoffs and it was definitely a case of the beat (the Byrnes Rebels) getting them as Byrnes defeated Laurens 21-0 To put it shortest possible terms, the Rebels had 14 hits (3 of which were homers) while the Raiders had only 1 hit (by Vanessa Harshaw) and the Rebels were very aggressive on the base paths often stretching singles into doubles and doubles into triples… For the game’s box score and some stats, click on the following:4-25-19-LSB-Byrnes-PO … For the games scorecard, click on the following: 4-25-19-LSB-Byrnes-PO-SC… The Raiders will go right back into action tonight as they travel to nation Ford to take on the Falcons for an elimination game that will start at 6:30…. • Baseball: Mauldin 11 – Laurens 1… The Raider baseball team was also in action last night as they traveled to Mauldin in an elimination game… I hate to have to tell you but the news is no better here for Raider fans as the Mavericks ended the Raiders’ season by taking an 11-1 win… The Raiders scored first in third inning when Aiden Pridgen walked and later scored on an RBI single by Thomas Willis… After that it was all Maudlin as they scored 8 runs in the bottom of the third on 4 hits 2 of which were homers…Mauldin finished the game with 7 hits while the Raiders had only 2… For the game’s box score and some stats, click on the following: 4-25-19-LBB-Mauldin-PO… For the games scorecard, click on the following: 4-25-19-LBB-Mauldin-PO-SC… The Raiders finish the season with a 13-12 overall record

Laurens Academy Crusaders:

  • Softball: WW King 21 – Crusaders 1…The Crusader softball team hosted the Knights of WW King Academy yesterday and they were just too nice of a host as the Knights took a 21-1 win… The Knights only led 3-1 after the first inning and 7-1 after 3 innings but they put 12 runs on the board in the fourth inning and pulled away for the win… Morgan Marlette had the only hit for the Crusaders… For the game’s box score and some stats, click on the following: 4-25-19-LASB-King… For the games scorecard, click on the following: 4-25-19-LASB-King-SC

  • Baseball: Crusaders 8 – WW King 6… The Crusader baseball team also played host to the WW King Knights yesterday and the news is better as the Crusaders took an 8-6 win… The Knights led 2-0 early but the Crusaders put 5 rums on the board in the third inning to take a lead they never surrendered… The Crusaders outhit the Knights 9-6 with Cal Robertson going 3-3 with a double and an RBI… For the game’s box score and some stats, click on the following: 4-25-19-LA-BB-King
