Guilty Plea from 2017 Assault, Other Cases Dismissed

A Joanna man pled guilty to a domestic assault in late 2017 yesterday, while other charges, including six cases added this past week, were dismissed as part of a plea-bargain. 26-year-old Samuel Jahlil Leake of 121 North Marion Street, Joanna pled yesterday to 2nd Degree Domestic Violence from a November 21st, 2017 case. He was sentenced to three years, suspended to 61 days, time served and is to be on probation for two years. Further stipulation of the sentence is to have no contact with the victim of his assault.

Charges Dismissed on Samuel Jahlil Leake included warrants served May 15th charging him with six counts of Unlawful Neglect of a Child or Helpless Person last week. Also dismissed was a 1st Degree Burglary charge from February 25th of this year. Other dismissed cases included Petit Larceny, Malicious Damage between $2,000 and $10,000 value and two charges of 3rd or Subsequent cases of Trespassing.
