Training Current Residents for Jobs, Now: “Talent Attraction”

There has been some pickup of interest shown in Laurens County for new industrial projects in the past few weeks. Laurens County Development Corporation (LCDC) Executive Director Jonathan Coleman advised his board yesterday afternoon that there has been some increase in requests for information from Laurens County since March.

Workforce Development has been a big push in Laurens County, to have people available for new jobs being created with new industry moving into Laurens County. Coleman yesterday said the LCDC staff is now also working with the Upstate Alliance for “Talent Attraction,” noting a need to attract more workers to the county. He said they’re collaborating with the Upstate Region in this effort.

The LCDC was briefed yesterday on new sites for industry in four Industrial Parks from Owings to Clinton. We’ll have details on this on tomorrow’s news.
