Grants for Martha Dendy & Pine Street Parks

Two Clinton city parks are to be enhanced due to federal grants totaling over $46,000. Department of Public Works and Utilities Director Joey Meadors advised City Council this week of the grants being awarded. He said the staff of Clinton’ Parks and Recreation Department applied for the grants some months back and were recently notified that the city would be awarded both grants.

A $20,000 grant awarded in conjunction with Arbor Day is to be used at Martha Dendy Park. Meadors said trees are to be planted and a storm water management plan is to be developed for Martha Dendy Park. He said the city will involve the Agriculture Science Department at Clinton High School and get input from local citizens. The work associated with the grant must be completed by November 30th of this year.

Joey Meadors said a $26,500 grant was awarded for Pine Street Park, where the city is to develop some new facilities including additional parking with money from the grant.
