FTC Fraud

Laurens Police arrested 55-year-old James Arthur Byrd of 1123 Sunset Park Extension, Laurens Friday and charged him with Financial Transaction Card Fraud. A warrant citing an investigation of Officer Gallo states that on May 19th Mr. Byrd attempted to withdraw $400 using a victim’s debit card at the Corner Mart convenience store at 815 East Main Street.

Byrd was also served a Bench Warrant from Municipal Court, issued by Judge C.W. Wier, stating that due to a conviction for Contempt of Court James Arthur Byrd was to be brought to the county jail for serving 30 days or paying a $500 fine.

A $2,000 bodn was set on the Financial Transaction Card Fraud case.

Mr. Byrd remained in the Johnson Detention Center this morning.
