Traffic & Drug Charges from Clinton Police

A Laurens man was arrested in Clinton yesterday for alleged traffic and drug violations in town. 39-year-old Matthew Shane Earle of 1014 West Main, Laurens was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute along with 3rd Offense Driving under Suspension and with being a Habitual Offender of Driving under Suspension.

Warrants citing the investigation of Lt. Lawton state that on April 10th the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles declared Mr. Earle as a Habitual Offender. Further, Matthew Earle is accused of operating a motor vehicle on Trade Street in Clinton yesterday, noting this driving on public roadways was while his license to drive is suspended. This is stated to be a third offense of Driving under Suspension.

Matthew Shane Earle was also served a warrant charging him with Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute. Also citing an investigation of Lt. Lawton, that warrant states that on June 12th Mr. Earle had in his possession over one gram of crystal methamphetamine at 12,818 Highway 56 North in Clinton, noting that this amount is prima facie evidence of possession with intent to distribute.,

With cash or surety bonds set totaling $8,000 on the three charges, Matthew Shane Earle remained in the Johnson Detention Center this morning.
