The Pledge Given by Veterans

Laurens County Council began this week’s meeting with a new feature. Council meetings will now have a veteran of United States Armed Forces leading the Pledge of Allegiance. At Tuesday evening’s Council meeting, Laurens County Parks and Recreation Director Andy Howard led the pledge. Mr. Howard is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

Council is looking for older veterans to lead the pledge, and especially want to invite remaining veterans from World War II to lead, along with their families. The Laurens County Veterans Affairs Office will have forms available for veterans interested in participating in council meetings by leading the pledge of Allegiance.

That office is on the ground floor of the Historic Courthouse on the Laurens Square.
