Laurens CPW Addressing Water Quality Issue

Some Laurens area residents have been experiencing water quality issues over the last few days. The CPW is investigating the possible causes of this problem. CPW General Manager John Young said, “We suspect elevated levels of organic matter in Lake Rabon is the source of the problem. Our lab technicians are evaluating water samples and we have sent samples to an independent lab to assist us in resolving this issue. Without knowing specifically the cause, we can’t effectively treat the problem.” Young added, “We apologize for the inconvenience, please be assured that the CPW is doing everything we can to remedy the situation as quickly as possible.”

Meanwhile, the CPW has verified that the water is completely safe to drink and use domestically. Anyone with questions or concerns is invited to call the CPW at 681-4300.
