Local Notes:

Clinton and Laurens to Scrimmage Today in Softball… If you get a chance to ride over to Clinton today at 6:00 pm you might want to stop by the CHS softball field because that is where the Raiders and the Red Devils will be having a friendly softball scrimmage this afternoon… It gives both teams a chance to see now the young players are developing in true game type situations instead of playing themselves… Should be interesting so go on over if you get the chance.

Laurens County Speedway results from the main events last Saturday night…

  • Limited… Another driver that led wire-to-wire was Taylor Puckett as he picked up the win in the limited main event… Second place finisher Frank Coates tried to challenge in the part of the race but Puckett pulled away to take the win by over 3 seconds… Tony Quarles finished third.
  • FWD… The main event in the FWD saw Seth Smith take his first –ever win at the LCS… He took the lead late in the race after a crash knocked out the front runner… Travis Jamieson was second and Mason Mack was third.

  • Brewers 5 – Braves 4The Brewers built up a 5=0 lead going into the top of the 8th inning in Milwaukie last night and then held on as the Braves scored 2 runs in the 8th inning and 2 in the ninth but could get no closer as the Brewers took a 5-4 win over the Braves thus giving them the series win 2 games to 1… Three Braves pitchers gave up 7 hits to the Brewers two of which were homers….Four Brewer pitchers gave up 6 hits and only one of those was a homer… Josh Donaldson (22) had a 2-run homer in the 8th inning and then he drove in the other 2 Brave runs with a single in the 9th inning… The Braves finally get to come home tonight and start a 4-game series with the Washington Nationals.

  • Tourist 4 – Drive 0After losing the first 2 games of their 3-game series with the Grenville Drive at Flour Field, the Ashville Tourist avoided the sweep last night by taking a 4-9 win over the Drive… The reason why is simple, the Tourist held the Drive to just 2 hits while they had 6 timely hits… The Drive start a 4-game series with the Columbia Fireflies tonight at Flour Field.
