Local Notes:

Laurens Little League (L3) Majors All-Star Team… The team is participating in the state tournament down in Summerville, SC.

  • Monday: Northwood 8 – L3 4… Last night the L3 Majors took on the Northwood team in a battle of the two undefeated teams in the tournament… Laurens led 4-1 at the end of the first inning but could not hold the lead as Northwood scored 5 runs in the fourth inning and went on to take an 8-4 win over Laurens… In the first inning Josh Goodwin, Jaheem Coleman and Coleman Coker all singled to lead off the inning… That brought Buster Harris to the plate who hit the second pitch he saw over the centerfield fence for a grand slam homerun to put Laurens up 4-1… Unfortunately that would prove to be all the scoring for Laurens as they did not get a runner past second base the remainder of the game… In the critical fourth inning where Northwood plated 5 runs, Laurens only two errors of the game as well as a passed ball and hit batter aided the Northwood scoring… Laurens actually outhit Northwood 8-7 with Josh Goodwin, Buster Harris and Dee Suber each getting 2 hits for Laurens… As a reminder one of Harris’ hits was the homer and Goodwin had a double… Laurens returns to action tonight at 7:00 pm as they take on Irmo which defeated Summerville 2-1 last night in and elimination game… The winner of tonight’s game will face Northwood tomorrow at 7:00 pm and must defeat Northwood twice to win the tournament… To see the entire tournament bracket and other information, click here… Good Luck to the team.
  • Saturday: Laurens 3 – Tega Cay- Fort Mill 0 Details… Laurens scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning when Josh Goodwin doubled and was later brought in on a RBI single by Coleman Coker… Coker later scored on TC-FM error… Laurens other run came in the 5th inning when Goodwin led off drawing a walk…. He moved to second on a walk to Jaheem Cook and then stole third… He later scored when the TC-FM catcher threw out Cook trying to stealing second… Laurens outhit TG-FM 4-1 with Goodwin, Coker, Buster Harris and Dee Suber each getting a hit… Cook picked up the complete game win striking out 7 and walking 2.
