  • Laurens County Touchdown Club… The Laurens County TD Club will be kicking off their meeting schedule in about 4 weeks and there is one change I will go ahead and alert you about… In the past the TD Club has met at noon on Fridays… This year to better accommodate the coaches and not interfere with their preparation for varsity football games on Friday, the TD Club will be meeting on Thursdays at noon at The Ridge the City of Laurens Parks and Recreation Headquarters… With that being said, mark your calendars for Thursday, August 29th toe day before the season kicks off for our local teams as that is when the first meeting will be… As usual that meeting will feature the local high school coaches and hopefully Coach Tommy Spangler from PC as they talk about the upcoming season… I’ll have more information on the complete schedule of dates, speakers and how you can join soon.

Pro Sports    For more information on any of the following games, click on their score.

  • Nationals 6 – Braves 3The Braves started a 3-game series with the Nationals up in DC last night and both teams had 7 hits but one of the Nationals’ hits was a grand slam homerun by Anthony Rendon in the 6th inning and that proved to be the difference in the game as the Nationals took a 6-3 win over the Braves… The game was tied going into the bottom of the 6th inning when Rendon hit the homer and the Braves managed only one more t=run after that as Charlie Culbertson had a pinch-hot solo homer in the 9th inning… Freddie Freeman led the Braves at the plate going 3-4 and scoring 2 runs.
  • BlueClaws 7 – Drive 6Now the news is not good for you Greenville Drive fans as the Lakewood BlueClaws took a 7-6 win over the Drive in 10 innings thus sweeping the 4-game series… The game was back and forth all night despite the BlueClaws outhitting the Drive 13-6… The Blue Claws took the walk-off win on an RBI single with one out in the bottom of the 10th… This was the last game in a 7-game road trip in which the Drive won only one game… The Drive have the night off as they travel back from New Jersey and will start 7-game homestand tomorrow night at Flour Field.
