Laurens

  • Discounted Resort Rates for Laurens vs. Myrtle Beach Football Game… A reminder that this season the Laurens Raiders will be traveling to Myrtle Beach to take on the Seahawks in the second game of the season pm September the 6th… Now if you are like me, which is an awfully long drive to turn around and drive back to Laurens after the game… I plan on spending two nights down there and if you would like to do the same, the Captain’s Quarters Resort is offering some special rates to Raider fans… The offers include not only special room rates but also discounts on other activities….  Laurens County Speedway results from the main events last Saturday night

  • 602 Thunder Series… The main event in the 602 Thunder series had more than its share of caution flags and was even shortened by 3 laps due to all the cautions but when it was finally over Rod Tucker took the checkered flag with Austin Mintz finishing second and Colby Cannon third.
  • Thunder Bombers… In the Thunder Bombers main event, it took 3 stop-and-starts to get the first lap in but once they did Bo Baker took the win topping Tinker Roberts who finished second with Scott Pulley claiming third.
  • 4-Cylinder… Bubba Kolb started on the poll in the 4-Cylinder main event and used that advantage to take the win over Aaron Wheeler by .305 seconds… Philip Wilson finished third.
  • FWD… In the FWD main event, Travis Jamieson took the lead early and went on to take the win with ease… In the battle for second place, Justin Harris held off Charles Ouzts.
  • SECA 604 Crate… In the SECA 604 Crate main event, Brian Mullins started on the inside of row 3 but that is not where he finished as he fought his way to the lead taking the checkered flag… Gray Parton and Brad Rachels were the next two to get the checkered flag in that order.
  • Limited… Tony Quarles took the lead at the start of the Limited main event and never trailed taking a 1.2 second win over Joshua Richeson with Austin Watkins taking third.
  • Young Guns… The Young Guns main event saw T.J. Neal take the win over Kayley Garner by a comfortable margin.

  • Braves 11- Nationals 8In game 2 of their 3-game series with the Nationals in DC last night, the Braves rebounded from their 6-3 loss on Monday as they jumped out to an 11-2 lead after 8 innings of play and then held on to take an 11-8 win… The Braves outhit the Nationals 15-12 and both teams had 3 homeruns… Josh Donaldson (24) had a 3-run homer in the 4th inning and Adam Duval added a solo homer in the same inning… Duvall added another solo homer in the 7th inning,
  • Drive… The Drive were off last night but return home to Flour Field to start a series with the Delmarva Shorebirds
  • Panthers Training Camp Info… The Carolina Panther are holding their training camp at Wofford College until Wednesday, August 14th and if you click here.it will take you to a posting on the Panthers’ website where the complete training camp schedule is located and it has details on promotions and special events during the camp…. The Panthers will start practice at 9:25 a.m. today and tomorrow.

Flag Football and Cheerleading at the Clinton YMCA… Registration is now open for flag football and cheerleading at the Clinton Family YMCA… There will be 3 age appropriate divisions for flag football that include 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12 years old…Cheerleading is for youth in kindergarten through 6th grade… Now for more information about this such as cost, age date determination, fall-out dates and financial assistance click here or call the YMCA at 833-1555… The last day to register is August 16th.

  

Raider Youth Softball Camp… Starting June 10th and running through August 26th Coach Michaela Smith will be offering a FREE softball camp on Mondays for young ladies in grades 1-6…. There is no registration required and all you need to bring is your glove… Again the clinic is free and it is on Mondays at the LDHS softball field or adjacent hitting building from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm… If you have any questions email Coach Smith at: mesmith@laurens55.org

 

Raider Youth Volleyball Camp… On Friday, August 9th Coach Lake and the LDHS volley ball team will be conducting a camp from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Auxiliary Gym and LDHS… The camp is for 3rd through 8th graders and the cost id only $40… Lunch will be provided but there are a couple of things the camper should bring… To find out what they are and for more information about this camp, click here… To register for the camp click here… Don’t let this opportunity to improve your child’s volleyball skills pass you by!

 

Clinton YMCA Summer Sports Camps, Swimming Lessons and Pool Schedule… The Clinton YMCA has a full summer of sports camps scheduled and again this summer they will be offering swimming lessons just about every week…. Laurens YMCA Summer Sports and Specialty Camps … Starting July 1st, the Laurens family YMCA will be having several sports and specialty camps… All camps cost $50 for YMCA members and $60 for non-members…. To see a full list of these camps click here and if you have more questions call the YMCA at 984-2621… You must register by the Friday before the camp starts.

 

Next Sports Camps at PC

  • Kids Free Basketball Camp… This camp will be held August 5-6 for 1st – 6th graders and it’s free… For more information about this camp and to register click here.
  • Boys Soccer Evening Camp… This camp will take place Saturday August 10th – Monday 12th and is for youth ages 5-14… The cost is only $30 and run from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm… For more information on this camp click here and to register click here.

 

PC Season Football Tickets on Sale

  • PC has 6 home games this season and the first one is on Saturday, Sept 14 when the Blue Hose host Jacksonville.
  • Blue chair back reserve seats are only $90.00 for the entire 6-game home season.
  • Parking is $5 per game but season parking passes are available for $25.
  • Per game seating (subject to availability) is $20 per game for chair type seats bench general admission will be $10 per seat for adults and $5 for students.
