Laurens

  • District 55 To Require Clear bags at All Events… Beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, Laurens County School District 55 (LCSD 55) will enforce a clear bag procedure for all athletic and performing arts events at Laurens District High School (LDHS) and all athletic events at each of the district’s four middle schools (Gray Court-Owings, Hickory Tavern, Laurens, and Sanders)… Any visitor, spectator, or patron attending an event held at one of these locations will be required to follow this procedure…. Of course this is a policy that is already in place at many universities and other organizations that is there to simply enhance security for the students of the district… Now for more details about this and how you can get an approved bag from the Athletic Booster Club, click here.
  • Discounted Resort Rates for Laurens vs. Myrtle Beach Football Game… A reminder that this season the Laurens Raiders will be traveling to Myrtle Beach to take on the Seahawks in the second game of the season pm September the 6th… Now if you are like me, which is an awfully long drive to turn around and drive back to Laurens after the game… I plan on spending two nights down there and if you would like to do the same, the Captain’s Quarters Resort is offering some special rates to Raider fans… The offers include not only special room rates but also discounts on other activities….   • Braves 5 Nationals 4 (10)The Braves NL East leading Braves finished their 3-game series with the second place Washington Nationals yesterday up in DC with a 5-4 win in 10 innings thus increasing their division lead to 6.5 games over the Nationals and giving them the series win 2-1… The Braves led 4-2 going into the bottom of the 9th inning when the Nationals scored 2 runs to tie the game and send it into extra innings… In the top of the 10th inning Josh Donaldson hit his 25th homer of the season and that would prove to be the winning run as the Nationals did get two men on base in the bottom of the 10th but could not get them home… Adam Duvall also had a solo homer for the Braves in the 2nd inning… The Braves return home to SunTrust Park tonight to start a 4-game series with the Cincinnati Reds before hitting the road again next Monday.
  • Braves Bolster Bullpen with Greene, Melancon… Now f or you diehard Braves’ fans a quick note… Just before the trade deadline yesterday the Braves added two relief pitchers to their roster… The acquired Shane Greene from the Tigers and Mark Melancon from the Giants… They also acquired catcher John Ryan Murphy from the D-backs… for more information on these trades, click here.
  • Shorebirds 5 – Drive 0Now for you Greenville Drive fans, the Delmarva Shorebirds took a 5-0 win over the Drive last night at Flour Field thus running the Drive’s losing streak to 5 games… They did it by simply outhitting the Drive 12-5… The two teams continue their series tonight at Flour Field
  • Panthers Training Camp Info… The Carolina Panther are holding their training camp at Wofford College until Wednesday, August 14th and if you click here.it will take you to a posting on the Panthers’ website where the complete training camp schedule is located and it has details on promotions and special events during the camp…. The Panthers will start practice at 9:25 a.m. today and will not practice at Wofford tomorrow as the team will be holding their annual Fan Fest in Charlotte tomorrow at 7:00 pm… The cost to get into that is $5:00… The Panthers will then have Saturday off and return to Spartanburg on Sunday to start practice at 3:10 pm.

Flag Football and Cheerleading at the Clinton YMCA… Registration is now open for flag football and cheerleading at the Clinton Family YMCA… There will be 3 age appropriate divisions for flag football that include 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12 years old…Cheerleading is for youth in kindergarten through 6th grade… Now for more information about this such as cost, age date determination, fall-out dates and financial assistance click here or call the YMCA at 833-1555… The last day to register is August 16th.

  

 Raider Youth Softball Camp… Starting June 10th and running through August 26th Coach Michaela Smith will be offering a FREE softball camp on Mondays for young ladies in grades 1-6…. There is no registration required and all you need to bring is your glove… Again the clinic is free and it is on Mondays at the LDHS softball field or adjacent hitting building from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm… If you have any questions email Coach Smith at: mesmith@laurens55.org

 

Raider Youth Volleyball Camp… On Friday, August 9th Coach Lake and the LDHS volley ball team will be conducting a camp from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Auxiliary Gym and LDHS… The camp is for 3rd through 8th graders and the cost id only $40… Lunch will be provided but there are a couple of things the camper should bring… To find out what they are and for more information about this camp, click here… To register for the camp click here… Don’t let this opportunity to improve your child’s volleyball skills pass you by!

 

Clinton YMCA Summer Sports Camps, Swimming Lessons and Pool Schedule… The Clinton YMCA has a full summer of sports camps scheduled and again this summer they will be offering swimming lessons just about every week…. Laurens YMCA Summer Sports and Specialty Camps … Starting July 1st, the Laurens family YMCA will be having several sports and specialty camps… All camps cost $50 for YMCA members and $60 for non-members…. To see a full list of these camps click here and if you have more questions call the YMCA at 984-2621… You must register by the Friday before the camp starts.

 

Next Sports Camps at PC

  • Kids Free Basketball Camp… This camp will be held August 5-6 for 1st – 6th graders and it’s free… For more information about this camp and to register click here.
  • Boys Soccer Evening Camp… This camp will take place Saturday August 10th – Monday 12th and is for youth ages 5-14… The cost is only $30 and run from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm… For more information on this camp click here and to register click here.

 

PC Season Football Tickets on Sale

  • PC has 6 home games this season and the first one is on Saturday, Sept 14 when the Blue Hose host Jacksonville.
  • Blue chair back reserve seats are only $90.00 for the entire 6-game home season.
  • Parking is $5 per game but season parking passes are available for $25.
  • Per game seating (subject to availability) is $20 per game for chair type seats bench general admission will be $10 per seat for adults and $5 for students.
