  • Meet The Devils… Clinton HS will be having its fall version of Meet the Devils on Tuesday, August 20 in the main gym at CHS starting at 6:00 pm… They will be introducing the players, coaches and cheerleaders for all the fall sports not only at CHS but also Clinton Middle school…
  • 2nd Annual Raiders’ Rally & Sports Preview… On Wednesday, August 21 the 2nd Annual Raiders’ Rally & Sports Preview will take place at KC Hanna Stadium…The gates will open at 5:00pm and this event will start before the Raiders take on Boiling Springs at 6:00 pm… They will have concessions, music, a bounce house, and raffle prizes… Raffle prizes include Century Club Passes, an autographed jersey, and other raffle items… Raider gear and the clear bags you will need to bring items into events at LDHS will be on sale…For more information about this event, click here.

 

Laurens Academy Starts Football Practice…. Back on Monday the Laurens Academy Crusaders started their fall practice getting ready for the upcoming season… I was able to take a few photos while I was there and if you click here it will carry you to YouTube where I have a slideshow of those photos… When you have a dozen or less player on your team and you are playing 8-man football it can be tough to practice like the bigger school do… Sometimes even the coaches (Todd Kirk) have to get involved in the practice above and beyond coaching… Check out the photos to see what I mean.

  • Marlins 9 – Braves 2… The Braves started a 4-game series with the Marlins last night down in Miami on a sour note as the marlins outhit the Braves 15-5 in route to a 9-2 win over the Braves… The Marlins’ right fielder Brian Anderson went 3 for 4 and two of his three hits were homers… Ronald Acuna Jr. was the only Brave to get more than one hit as he went 2-4 hitting his 30th homer of the season in the 8th inning.
  • Fireflies 12 – Drive 5… The Greenville Drive were also on the road last night as they started a 4-game series with the Columbia Fireflies down in the capital city…They continue to struggle here in the second half of the season as the Fireflies won by a score of 12-5…
  • Panthers 23 – Bears 13… In case you missed it last night the panthers took a 23-13 win over the Chicago Bears in Chicago last night in their first pre-season game… Elijah Holyfield scored twice for the Panthers once on a 7 yard pass from Will Grier and the second time on a 7 yard run…. Joey Slye kicked 3 field goals for the Panthers
  • Panthers Training Camp Info… The Carolina Panther are holding their training camp at Wofford College until Wednesday, August 14th and if you click here.it will take you to a posting on the Panthers’ website where the complete training camp schedule is located and it has details on promotions and special events during the camp…. The Panthers will be back in Spartanburg Sunday for their last 4 days of training camp… They start practice at 3:10 Sunday afternoon

Discounted Resort Rates for Laurens vs. Myrtle Beach Football Game… A reminder that this season the Laurens Raiders will be traveling to Myrtle Beach to take on the Seahawks in the second game of the season pm September the 6th… Now if you are like me, which is an awfully long drive to turn around and drive back to Laurens after the game… I plan on spending two nights down there and if you would like to do the same, the Captain’s Quarters Resort is offering some special rates to Raider fans… The offers include not only special room rates but also discounts on other activities…. Flag Football and Cheerleading at the Clinton YMCA… Registration is now open for flag football and cheerleading at the Clinton Family YMCA… There will be 3 age appropriate divisions for flag football that include 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12 years old…Cheerleading is for youth in kindergarten through 6th grade… Now for more information about this such as cost, age date determination, fall-out dates and financial assistance click here or call the YMCA at 833-1555… The last day to register is August 16th.

  

Raider Youth Softball Camp… Starting June 10th and running through August 26th Coach Michaela Smith will be offering a FREE softball camp on Mondays for young ladies in grades 1-6…. There is no registration required and all you need to bring is your glove… Again the clinic is free and it is on Mondays at the LDHS softball field or adjacent hitting building from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm… If you have any questions email Coach Smith at: mesmith@laurens55.org

 

Raider Youth Volleyball Camp… On Friday, August 9th Coach Lake and the LDHS volley ball team will be conducting a camp from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Auxiliary Gym and LDHS… The camp is for 3rd through 8th graders and the cost is only $40… Lunch will be provided but there are a couple of things the camper should bring… To find out what they are and for more information about this camp, click here… To register for the camp click here… Don’t let this opportunity to improve your child’s volleyball skills pass you by!

 

Fall Ball at the City of Laurens Parks and Recreation… Registration is now open at the City of Laurens Parks and Recreation Department for Fall Baseball… Ages 6-8 can register for coaches pitch while ages 9-11 can register for kids pitch baseball…. The cost is $40 for either and you can register at The Ridge on Exchange Drive daily… Registration closes August 30.

 

Laurens YMCA Flag Football and Soccer… Registration is now open for soccer and flag football at the Laurens Family YMCA… Soccer is open to youth ages 3-15 while flag football is open for youth ages 3-14… The cost is $50 for YMCA members and $60 for potential members… The registration deadline is August 25…. Call 984-2626 for more information.

 

Next Sports Camps at PC

  • Boys Soccer Evening Camp… This camp will take place Saturday August 10th – Monday 12th and is for youth ages 5-14… The cost is only $30 and run from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm… For more information on this camp click here and to register click here.

PC Season Football Tickets on Sale

  • PC has 6 home games this season and the first one is on Saturday, Sept 14 when the Blue Hose host Jacksonville.
  • Blue chair back reserve seats are only $90.00 for the entire 6-game home season.
  • Parking is $5 per game but season parking passes are available for $25.
  • Per game seating (subject to availability) is $20 per game for chair type seats bench general admission will be $10 per seat for adults and $5 for students.
