CPW Meets at 5:30 Today

The Laurens Commission of Public Works holds its August meeting at 5:30 this afternoon. The agenda calls for a Water Quality Update along with a site readiness update regarding a grant from Santee Cooper. Commissioners will also hear a recommendation regarding purchase of partial natural gas base-load capacity for this coming winter.

The CPW is to also hear a recommendation for a change to the vacation and sick leave policy. An executive session is planned for an economic development update involving Hunter Industrial Park along with contractual matters regarding the railroad and PMPA, and a personnel matter.





A man arrested by the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office late last Thursday was served with two drug charges Friday. 44-year-old Doyle Wayne Roberts of 261 Forest Road, Clinton was served with warrants alleging Unlawful Prescription Possession and Possession of a Controlled Substance without Authority. Warrant allege that on August 8th Roberts unlawfully possessed a prescription drug that didn’t belong to him, noting the prescription on the bottle was for another person. Roberts was also allegedly found in unauthorized possession of Alprazolam, a schedule 4 controlled substance. Doyle Wayne Roberts was released from the Johnson Detention Center Saturday on posting cash or surety bonds totaling $3,000.
