A Day of Guilty Pleas in Laurens County

Several defendants entered guilty pleas yesterday in Laurens County during the first day of a second week for this term of General Sessions Court. Judge Frank Addy Jr. of Greenwood was presiding.


39-year-old Andre Octavis Moody of 143 Shoals Road, Enoree pled guilty on two counts of Manufacture or Possession of Controlled Substances in schedules 1, 3 or 3. He was given three-year sentences on both charges, to run concurrently with the other. He was given credit for over a year – 449 days – already spent in jail. Mr. Moody also pled to an Unlawful Firearm Carry charge and received a one-year sentence on that, also to be served concurrently with the others. Charges dismissed in the plea bargain were two counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute in the vicinity of a School and a second weapons charge of Possession of a Weapon during a violent crime.


A Clinton couple pled guilty yesterday to drug charges in Laurens County General Sessions. 64-year-old Joseph Anthony Jones of 133 Grove Street, Clinton pled to Manufacture, Distribution and Possession of LSD. He was sentenced to eight years, suspended with two days served and to spend four years on Probation. Charges dismissed included a Weapons charge and two counts of Manufacture or Distribution of drugs.

68-year-old Sarah Ann Jones, also of 133 Grove Street, Clinton, pled to Manufacturing Distribution and Possession of Narcotics in Schedule 1 and 2. She was sentenced to two days served. A Drug Attempt and Conspiracy charge was dismissed on Ms. Jones.


39-year-old Joshua Toboris Hill of 103 Rosemary Lane, Laurens pled guilty to third degree Burglary and to Petit Larceny. He was sentenced to four years on the Burglary charge, but that was suspended to four days already served and three years release on Probation. He’s also being required to pay restitution, court costs and to serve on four litter pickup details. On the Petit Larceny case, Hill was sentenced to the four days he’s already served.


Among other guilty pleas heard in Laurens County General Sessions Court yesterday by Judge Frank Addy Jr.:

A 64-year-old Spartanburg woman pled to Unlawful Use of 911 and was sentenced to time served and payment of court costs at $40 a month.

A 30-year-old Pauline woman was sentenced to pay court costs at $40 a month following her plea to Possession of Less than One Gram of Meth.

A 25-year-old Gray Court woman pled to 3rd Degree Assault and Battery. She was sentenced to thirty days, time already served.
