Mom Arrested After 3-Year-Old Crosses Busy Street

A three-year-old child reportedly crossed a busy Fleming Street in Laurens last week, resulting in charges for the child’s mother. Laurens Police arrested 22-year-old Jaquesia Tiana Reeder of Clary Street, Laurens Wednesday and held her for charges. She has since been charged with Unlawful Neglect. A warrant with that charge states that on September 4th she unlawfully neglected her two children by leaving them at their Clary Street residence without adult supervision. This, the warrant states, allowed the older child, a three-year-old, to leave the residence and cross Fleming Street, a busy thoroughfare, multiple times before bystanders could secure the child and hold the child until police arrived. Jaquesia Reeder was released from detention on a $10,000 Personal Recognizance bond.
