Brown Patterson Wins County Council Seat 4

Brown Patterson was the Special General Election Tuesday to serve Laurens County Council District 4 residents on Council. The votes from Absentee and all sixteen precincts that were open came to 109 votes for W. Brown Patterson Jr., who was the Republican Party’s nominee for the council seat.

Brown Patterson told WLBG he wanted to extend a “thank you” for all the people who came out on a random Tuesday in September to cast a vote in an uncontested election. He added, “I’m looking forward to serving the people of Laurens County as the District 4 representative. I am ready to work with the other members of Laurens County Council I’m moving this County forward insuring prosperity for generations to come.”

In the unofficial vote count last, nineteen people case a write-in vote. One of those appeared to also be a vote for Brown Patterson, although the spelling was a bit off. There was another single write-in ballot for a Tim Howard. 17 of the write-in votes were for Jennifer Garrett, who lost the Republican Primary earlier this year.

The 109 votes giving Brown Patterson the win are unofficial. The Laurens County Election Commission will meet Thursday morning at 11:00 to do an official Canvas of the vote, then make a formal declaration of the official results.
