Stealing and Stripping Motorcycle

The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office and Clinton Police had charges for a man yesterday regarding a stolen motorcycle.

Clinton Police lodged 40-year-old Greg Thanh Vo of 200 Jefferson Street, Clinton in the detention center around 9:30 and charged him with Grand Larceny. Lt. Stephen Lawton states that between June 21st and August 27th of this year Greg Thanh Vo committed Grand Larceny by taking away a 1998 Harley Davidson Sportster XL 883 with intent to deprive the owner. The warrant noted the value of the motorcycle at $2,500, noting the theft occurred from a Francis Street address.

The Sheriff’s Office added charges of Malicious Damage and Possession or Disposal of a Stolen Vehicle on Mr. Vo. An investigation of Deputy Boyd was cited as indicating that on August 29th in Laurens County Mr. Vo willfully, unlawfully and maliciously did approximately $3,000 in damage to the personal property by stripping the victim’s motorcycle of most of its parts. Further, he’s accused of disposing of the 1998 Harley Davidson Sportster which had been reported to Clinton Police as stolen. This warrant noted the value of the motorcycle as $3,000.

While Judge Mike Pitts set personal recognizance bonds totaling $10,000 on the two county charges, Greg Thanh Vo remained in the Johnson Detention Center this morning.
