Newly Found Historical Artifacts on Display at 5:00 PM

Artifacts recently unearthed at the Laurens County site of historic Fort Lindley are to be on display tomorrow evening. Friends of the Laurens County Museum are hosting a meeting at 5:00 pm this Thursday to show artifacts discovered by the “Backcountry Diggers,” a metal detecting club.

Mr. Durant Ashmore, Revolutionary War enthusiast, will lead the meeting. He’s been instrumental in encouraging preservation of several Laurens County Revolutionary War sites including Fort Lindley and Hayes Station. He leads tours and presents educational programs on Revolutionary War topics.  His next tour will be Saturday, September 21, to Hayes Station in Laurens County, the site of a bloody massacre of Patriot soldiers by Loyalist “Bloody” Bill Cunningham.

Anyone interested in this historic period of our history is invited to attend the program displaying artifacts from Fort Lindley tomorrow afternoon at 5:00 in the Witherspoon Building on the Square.
