Sports Report for Thursday, 9-12-2019

Local Notes:

CHS Red Devils:

Cross Country… The Red Devils held a home cross country meet yesterday and the results were (remember lowest score wins like in golf):

  • Girls: Clinton 15 – Dixie 20… In girl’s action Clinton took a 15-20 as the Dixie did not have enough team members to make their portion of the meet “official””… Dorothy Trent had the top time for the Red Devils as she finished the course in 23:41… To see the time turned in by other Red Devil runners, click here.
  • Boys: Clinton 25 – Dixie 35… Now in the boys’ portion of the meet Dixie did have enough runners to compete and as a matter of fact two of their runners finished first and second… However the Red Devil runners finished in spots 3-8 which allowed them to win the meet 25-35…. The Red Devils were paced by Zac Bagwell who finished the course in 20:31… To see the times turned by other Red Devil runners click here. … Congratulations to both Clinton teams!

LDHS: Raiders

  • Girl’s Tennis: Laurens 6 – Westside 1… Now doing some catching up on girls tennis at LDHS, the Raiders traveled to Anderson on Tuesday to take on the Westside Rams and the ride back most likely didn’t seem as long as the ride over did because the Raiders defeated the Rams 6-1… Abby Davis, Anna Jenkins, Bella Youssef, Mackenzie Little and Kelsie Little all took wins in singles action… Skylar Douglas and Bella Burrafato teamed up to form the #1 doubles team and they also defeated their opponents… For match details click here
  • Volleyball: Wade Hampton 3 – Laurens 0… We also need to do some catching on volleyball results from Tuesday… The Raiders traveled to Greenville Tuesday and took on the Wade Hampton Generals… Unfortunately the results are not what I like to report as the Generals took a 3-0 win… Set scores were 25-11, 25-16 and 25-16… Now for more details on this match and comments from Coach Lake, click here
  • JV Volleyball: Laurens 2 – Wade Hampton 0…. Now the news is better where the JVs are concerned as they took a 2-0 hard fought win over Wade Hampton… Set scores were 25-21 and 25-23… Again for more details on the match and comments from Coach Lake click here.
  • JV Football Time Change… The JV football team will be hosting the Rams of Hillcrest tonight at KC Hanna Stadium and for those of you who have a schedule I need to pass a note on to you… The original schedule said the game was to start at 6:00 pm but that kickoff time has been moved to 6:30… Good luck to the Raiders!

  • Braves 3 – Phillies 1… last night up in Philadelphia the Braves and the Phillies played game 3 of their 4-game series… If you wanted to see the scoring in the game all you would have needed to do was watch the fourth inning because that’s where it all happened… The Braves Tyler Flowers hit his 11th homer of the season driving in 3 runs and then in the bottom of the inning the Phillies scored their only run of the game as the Braves took a 3-1 win.
