PC Notes

  • Jacksonville at PC Tomorrow Night… The Blue Hose football team returns to action tomorrow night at 7:00 pm as they hoist the Jacksonville Dolphins in their second game of the season… Why don’t you make plans to come on out as Coach Tommy Spangler and his team light up Bailey Memorial Stadium.


Local Notes:

CHS Red Devils:

  • JV Football: Clinton 26 – Powdersville 20… The Red Devil JV football team traveled to Powdersville to take on the Patriots last night and took a come-from behind 26-20 win… When the horn sounded to end the first half the Red Devils found themselves on the wrong side of a 20-0 score… The second half was a different story as the Red Devil defense stepped up and held the patriots scoreless in the second half while to offense found some momentum and score 26 unanswered points to take the win… As Coach Glenn said afterward it was a great win for his team as they bent but did not break.


LDHS: Raiders

  • JV Football: Hillcrest 20 – Laurens 0… The Raiders and the rams hooked up in JV football action last night at KC Hanna Stadium and the first half saw the Rams score just about a minute before the half was over to take a 6-0 lead… They scored again with 8:333 left in the game to make it 14-0… Laurens responded by driving all the way down to the Ram 8 yard line where the Raiders fumbled and the Rams recovered and drove the length of the field to score again with 31 seconds left to play to make the final score 20-0 Rams.
  • Fan Bus to Hillcrest… There will be a fan bus leaving from in front of LDHS tonight at 6:30 and if you want to ride up to Simpsonville it will cost you $5… Of course once you get there you will still have to purchase your ticket to get into the game.


 Laurens Academy

  • MS Football: LA 40 – Newberry Academy 0… Sorry no other details
  • Crusaders host St John’s…. Don’t forget the varsity football team will be hosting St John’s tonight at 7:30 out at Tod Kirk Field.


Middle School Football

  • Hickory Tavern 16 – Clinton MS 0… Yesterday in a game that you could have heard here on Real Radio WLBG, the HT Panthers took a 16-0 win over the CMS-7th grade Wildcats… HT took the opening kickoff and kept the ball for the entire first quarter and scored with 7:55 left in the second quarter on a 5 yard run by Nick Fowler… Tylan Fowler added the 2-point conversion to make it 7-0…. After holding the Wildcats to 3 and out the Panther again drove 65 yard to score with 40 seconds in the half on a 2 yard run by Nick Fowler who also added the 2 point conversion to make it 16-0… The second half was scoreless and the Wildcats never stopped battling as they drove all the way to the Panther 2 yard line early in the fourth quarter where the Panther defense held them out of the end zone.
  • Edgewood 22 – Sanders 14… Yesterday the Sanders Yellow Jackets traveled to Ninety Six to take on the Edgewood Wildcats… when the final horn sounded the Wildcats had taken a hard fought 22-14 win… Kalvis Byrd had a 65 yard kickoff return for a TD and also long rushing TD to account for most of the Sanders scoring… For a few more details on the game and coach’s comments, click here
  • Laurens MS 38 – Saluda 8… The LMS Tigers hosted the Saluda MS Tigers yesterday and LMS won by a score of 38-8… Sorry no other details.

  • Phillies 9 – Braves 5… Yesterday in the final game of their 4-game series with the Phillies in Philadelphia, the Braves lost 9-5 thus splitting the series at 2-2… The Phillies outhit the Braves 11-7 and they also out “homered” the Braves 4-3… Ozzie Albies (22), Adam Duval (7) and Ronald Acuna Jr (39) all homered for the Braves…. The Braves are now 91-57 on the season and lead the National by 8.5 games in the NL East… The Braves will have a weekend series in Washington starting tonight and a series win will all but clinch the title for the Braves.

Laurens County TD Club

  • The Laurens County Touchdown Club meets every other Thursday at noon out at The Ridge the City of Laurens Parks and Recreation Headquarters on Exchange Drive…. If you would like to see the entire schedule and information on how to join the club, click here.

This and That

Youth Soccer at Clinton YMCA… Registration is now open at the Clinton Family YMCA for Youth Soccer for youth ages 3-12 divided into 3 appropriate age groupings (3-5, 6-8 & 9-12)… The cost is $55 for YMCA members and $75 for non-members… The YMCA will not deny anyone the opportunity to participate in its youth sports activities…. Interested participants are encouraged to register well before the Monday, September 23rd deadline… For additional information and interest call the Clinton YMCA at 833-1555….  Run Hog Wild… The Laurens Family YMCA in conjunction with Self Regional Healthcare and Piedmont Orthopedic Associates of the Lakelands will be holding a 1 mile run on October 5, 2019 starting at 9 am…  Proceeds will help the children of our community by going to the Laurens City Police for their Christmas in the City program and for the YMCA Youth Scholarship program… The cost is $15 if you don’t want a T-shirt and $25 if you do…  Registration the day of the race will start at 8 am at Laurens Middle School which is where the race will start… You can register at….
