Sports Report for Wednesday, 9-18-2019

Local Notes:

Laurens County Speedway Results… Taking a look at the winners in each of the divisions main events last Saturday night at the LCS you find:

  • Limited… Deano Long finished first in the Limited main event taking advantage of contact between two other drivers late in the race that sent them to the back of the field and forced a restart late in the race… Jimmy Taylor finished second and Frank Coates secured the division championship finishing third.
  • FWD… The main event in the FWD division was a stop-and-start affair from the very beginning, as it took four attempts to start the race before a single lap was recorded…. Once they did get it started Travis Jamieson took the lead and never surrendered finishing first with Seth Smith and Darien Norwood being the next two drivers to see the checkered flag in that order.
  • SECA 604 Crate…. Dale Timms and Bryan Mullins battled each other in the all race long in the SECA 604 Crate main event and in the end it was Timms who took the win with Mullins finishing second… Brad Rachels took third.
  • 4-Cylinder… Matt Gilbert took the win in the 4-Cylinder main event leading from start to finish… Scott Nelson tried to catch him in the last few laps but had to settle for second and Wayne Powers took third.
  • Thunder Bombers… Lee Higdon took the checkered flag apparently taking first in the Thunder Bomber main event but a post-race inspection revealed he had bad tires and was disqualified…. That gave Brandon Satterfield the win with Scott Pulley finishing second and Shane Lollis third.
  • 602 Crate… Colt Smith who captured the 602 Crate season championship last week took the lead in this week’s main event in the first lap and went on to win the race… Colby Cannon was second and Chris Patterson was third.
