Forum to Discuss How to Curtain Opioid Deaths

73,176 opioid prescriptions were dispensed in Laurens County last year. We had 100 people hospitalized due to opioid-related overdoses. 12 people died from these overdoses. Seven of those twelve had used Fentanyl. In Laurens County last year, five children were born with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome as a result of their mother’s drug use.

In addressing these statistics, the Laurens County Prevention Coalition hosts an Opioid Community Forum at 6:00 this evening at the Ridge of Laurens. County residents who are concerned about this growing problem are invited to attend tonight’s forum.

Visitors will hear from a panel of local professionals who will share front-line drug prevention experiences in dealing with the opioid epidemic in Laurens County. Local residents who attend this evening can share their questions, concerns, suggestions and perspectives with the panelists, and learn how to save lives in Laurens County.
