Local Notes:

LDHS Raiders:

  • Golf Team Finished Seventh in Region Tournament… Back on Monday the Lady Raider golf team traveled to the Cobb’s Glenn CC over in the Anderson area to participate in the Region I-AAAAA Golf Tournament… The Raiders shot a 512 to finish seventh with TL Hanna winning the event on their home course… Anna Gray Rowland had the low score for the Raiders shooting a 104… That score means she qualifies for the Upper State Golf Tournament later this month for the second straight season… Congratulations to Anna! … Now if you would like to see what the Raiders shot and what place other region teams finished in, click here.
  • Fan Bus… There will be a fan bus headed to Woodmont and it will leave from in front of the high school at 6:45 pm… The cost is $5.00 and this Does Not include the cost of the ticket to get into the game.

Laurens County Speedway Results… Last Saturday was the final night of racing this season at the LCS… Taking a look at the winners in each of the divisions main events last Saturday night at the LCS you find:

  • Thunder Bombers…. The Thunder Bombers main event was won by Tinker Roberts with Dan Lawson finishing second and Clay Crowder third… Now this was the only division whose season championship was still in question when the race started… Lawson’s second place finish insured that he took the crown.
  • Limited… Frank Coates had already wrapped up the Limited Division Championship and he ended the season by winning the final main event… Deano Long and Davis McCoy were the next two drivers to see the checkered flag wave over them in that order.
  • SECA 604 Crate…  Gary Patton won the SECA 604 Crate main event by over second place Brad Rachels… I don’t think Rachels was too upset as he had already clinched the divisions’ championship… Terry Bullard finished third.
  • FWD… Billy Medlin took the checkered flag in the Front-Wheel Drive main event, while Travis Jamieson was second and Shawn Nichols was third…. Jamieson already had the division championship in his hip pocket before the race ever started.
  • 4-Cylinder… Matt Gilbert was able to take the win in the 4-Cylinder main event when second place finisher Travis Sharp went too high and smacked the wall on lap four letting Gilbert get by him and go on to the win… The division’s champion Phillip Wilson did not take part in the main event despite finishing second in his heat race.
  • 602 Crate… Two-time 602 Crate division champion Colt Smith finished his season on a high, winning the main event… Colby Cannon and Mart Patterson were the next two drivers across the finish line in that order.
  • Demolition Derby… Now on the last night of racing for the season they also had a demolition derby… As you can imagine there were a lot of hard hits and cars not able to continue for just about any reason you can think of in such a race, but when all the other cars had come to a stop Keith Williams was still running and was the winner.
