Salute to Retired Naval Commander

A salute to a retired Naval Officer was included at this week’s Laurens County Council. Called to lead the Pledge of Allegiance at the start of Tuesday evening’s Council meeting was Tom Martin, a retired U.S. Naval Commander. He joined the Navy in August of 1969 and retired as a Commander in 1990. Tom Martin has since served as an attorney. Tom Martin’s family operated Martin’s Store in the Mount Gallagher area near Ware Shoals since the early 1800’s. County Council presented Tom Martin with a Certificate of Appreciation for his service to the United States, South Carolina and to his native Laurens County.
