Motion by Council Member Not ‘Out of Order’

During Council Member Comments at this week’s Laurens County Council meeting, recently elected Councilman Brown Patterson yielded his time to the county attorney. Sandy Cruickshanks then said that at the previous meeting of County Council, he ruled a motion made by Mr. Patterson “out of order.”

The motion was for reconsideration of a previous action taken by council. Sandy Cruickshanks said that on reflection following that meeting, he realizes he was wrong. He said he has personally apologized to Mr. Patterson for this and appreciates his accepting the apology.

Brown Patterson had attempted to have Council vote again on authorizing a professional analysis of county office space needs, which had been narrowly defeated when council was down to only six members.
