CPW Reviews Preparations for Industrial Growth

The Laurens Commissioners of Public Works this week received updates on progress being made in economic development.

General Manager John Young advised the commissioners that a 2-inch natural gas service line to the new Muffin Mam building has been completed and the electrical service has been energized.

Mr. Young also reported that County Council has approved reimbursing the CPW for sewer line expansions in Hunter Industrial Park to serve the new Muffin Mam bakery and the new Truecore plant. This results in the CPW receiving $382,476 from the Hunter Industrial Park Fund to cover the costs of those sewer line expansions.

John Young also reported the CPW has received a grant for $306,600 from Santee Cooper for improving the electrical system in Hunter Park.

Young also explained the work the commission is doing for Laurens Middle School, making a bore under West Main Street for a new water tap for adding a fire hydrant, as requested by District 55.
