Sports Report for Thursday, 10-24-2019

Local Notes:

  • Tennis: Clinton 6 – Indian Land 0… The Lady Red Devils started their participation in the Class-AA tennis playoffs yesterday by hosting the Indian land Warriors… Well they started it off with a bang as they took a 6-0 win over the Warriors… Now at this time I don’t have match details but there is a picture of the scoreboard yesterday posted on Twitter and from looking at it the Red Devils took dominate wins in each match… The team will be back in action Monday as they host the Powdersville Patriots in second round action… Powdersville advanced by taking a 7-0 win over Broome.

  • Tennis: Mauldin 7 – Laurens 0… Now the Lady Raider tennis team also qualified for the playoffs for the first time in recent memory… They traveled to Mauldin yesterday to take on the 17-3 overall and 14-0 in region play Mavericks in their first round match… The Mavericks proved to be just too strong for the Raiders as they took a 7-0 win… The Mavericks pretty much dominated each match and the closest the Raiders came to picking up a win was Kelsie Little’s 2-6 & 5-7 loss in the #5 singles match… Afterwards Coach Youmans mentioned how proud she was of the team for battling hard all year long and what a great group of young ladies they are… Congratulations to the Raiders for qualifying for the playoffs this year!   The Mavericks advance to host Laurens region foe TL Hanna next Monday.
