Local Notes:

Local Schedule Change Due to Weather:

  • JV games… Both the Clinton and Laurens JV football games were cancelled yesterday and will not be made up.
  • CMS 8Th Grade Football… The CMS 8th grade Wildcat football team was supposed to play Westview MS yesterday in Greenwood… That game has been postponed until Monday, November 4th and it will be played at Emerald HS with kickoff set for 5:30
  • Hickory Tavern at Gray Court Owings… Also a reminder that the HT at GCO football game that was scheduled for Wednesday has been postponed until Monday also and it will kick off at 5:00 pm on the Tigers home field at GCO.
  • Red Devil Tennis Today… The Lady Red Devil tennis team will be back in action today as they take on the Camden Bulldogs in third round action of the SCHSL Class AAA Tennis Playoffs… As you may recall they were supposed to play Wednesday but rain then and yesterday forced the postponement… The Red Devils are coming off a 6-0 win over Powdersville back on Monday while the Bulldogs are coming off a 6-0 win over Chesnee… The match is scheduled to start at 1:00 pm on the courts at Clinton MS… By the way the winner will turn around and travel to Chapman on Monday to take on the Panthers for the Upper State Championship… Go Big Red!

Today’s Varsity Football Schedule:

  • Laurens Academy at Newberry Academy… The Laurens Academy Crusaders (3-5) will travel down to Newberry Academy to take on the Eagles (1-5)… Both teams did have a common opponent earlier this season and that was Jefferson Davis… The Crusaders defeated JDA 70-44 while the Eagles lost to JDA 70-8… This will be the final game of the season for the Crusaders… Hope the Crusader fans will make the short trip down to cheer them on but if you can’t listen to our broadcast of Raider football and we will do our best t keep you updated on the score as some Crusader football parents text the score to us.
  • Clinton at Woodruff… The 4-5 / 2-2 Red Devils close out their regular season tonight at Woodruff taking on the 6-3 / 3-1 Wolverines… If the Red Devils pull what looks like on paper whet would be called an upset and win, they would be definitely make the playoffs and with a little help could finish as high as second in the region in Coach Corey Fountains first year at the helm… If the Wolverines take the win the Red Devils are more than likely in the playoffs but there are a couple of things that could happen that would cause them to finish 5th in the region and not make the playoffs… That scenario is not likely but possible… As always Go Big Red!
  • Laurens at Easley… After defeating TL Hanna 33-23 last Friday night at TL Hanna Stadium to clinch the Region I –AAAAA Championship, the Raiders (7-1 / 6-0) will travel to Ealey tonight to take on the Green Wave (3-6 / 2-4) in the final game of the regular season… Let’s hope the Raiders are not looking ahead to hosting a playoff game next week because Easley is a team that has shown improvement as the season went on.
