CHS Red Devils:

  • Boys Basketball Scrimmage Today… The Red Devil boys’ basketball team is scheduled to scrimmage Boiling Springs this evening at 6:00 pm in the main gym at CHS… If you get a chance to go over please do so as you get a look at the team Coach Eddie Romines is preparing for the upcoming season.



Women’s College Basketball:

  • AP Poll Rankings… The top 3 teams remain the same in this week’s AP Poll for women’s college basketball… They are Oregon, Baylor and Stanford… UConn moved up to #4 and Texas A&M to #5… Spots 6-10 are occupied by South Carolina, Oregon State, Maryland, Louisville and Mississippi State in that order… To see the entire top 25 in the poll click here.


  • PC Women’s Basketball… The Lady Blue Hose basketball team is 2-1 on the season… The started their season off last week with a 70-49 win over the Lady Bulldogs of South Carolina State down in Orangeburg… PC outscored the Bulldogs in every quarter except the second where they both scored 17 points… Trinity Johnson had a game-high 17 points to go with four assists and four steals to lead the Blue Hose…. For more information on this game, click here…. Last Sunday the team traveled to Morgantown, W. Va. to take on the Lady Mountaineers… PC opened the game with some cold shooting and trailed 11-4 at the end of the first quarter as the Mountaineers went on to take a 56-40 win… Trinity Johnson again led PC in scoring this time with 14 points…. For more information on this game, click here Last night the Blue Hose had their first home game as the Pacers of William Peace University paid a visit at the Templeton Center…It was a good home opener as the Blue Hose took a 72-35 win with Kacie Hall leading the team with a game-high 15 points… For more information on this game, click here… The team travels to Florida to take on the Gators Monday.


  • Clemson Women’s Basketball… The Lady Tigers are 1-2 on the season… They won their opener against Furman at Clemson last week by a score of 77-71… The Tigers had 3 players scoring in double-digits… For more information on this game, click here Last Sunday the Tigers lost to Navy 65-32 after leading 32-25 at the half… For more information on this game, click hereOn Tuesday night the Tigers lost to Alabama by a score of 67-65 despite Kobi Thorton’s career-high-tying 25-points… For more information on this game, click hereThe Tigers will be back in action Monday when they host Alabama State.


  • South Carolina Women’s Basketball… Now the Lady Gamecocks are 3-0 on the season and they took their first win Tuesday of last week when they defeated Alabama State Hornets 103-43… Aliyah Boston got her college career started with a triple-double scoring 12 points, pulling down 12 rebounds and blocking 10 shots… For more information on this game, click here… Last Sunday they traveled up to Maryland to take on the then #4 Terrapins and defeated them 63-54… Boston again led the Gamecocks with 14 points… For more information on this game, click here… Last night the Gamecocks were in Dayton, Ohio to take on the Flyers… They took a 75-48 win to run their record to 3-0… Zia Cooke had a game-high 27 points for the Gamecocks… For more information on this game, click here… The Gamecocks will host Appalachian State Sunday in a 2:00 pm contest.

  • Friday, 11-15-19… The Raiders will host the Byrnes Rebels in a second round playoff game at KC Hanna Stadium…. Laurens County TD Club

  • The Laurens County Touchdown Club meets every other Thursday at noon out at The Ridge the City of Laurens Parks and Recreation Headquarters on Exchange Drive…. If you would like to see the entire schedule and information on how to join the club, click here.
  • The next meeting is November 21st and in addition to the local high school coaches talking about their past and upcoming games, it will be the annual Carolina – Clemson day.

Raider Softball Chicken Stew Fund Raiser… The Laurens Raider softball team is selling chicken stew to help raise funds for equipment travel and other expenses that are not fully covered by district funds… The stew will be cooked on Friday, November 15 and will be ready for pick up the next day (Saturday, November 16) at the Hickory Tavern Fire department… The stew will be $8 per quart and to order yours see any member of the Raider softball team either varsity or JV players… You can also contact Coach Smith to order your stew… Her email address is:… Don’t wait too long to order you stew, I already have!


Youth Basketball at the Ridge… Youth basketball registration in now underway at The Ridge the City of Laurens Parks and Recreation Headquarters on Exchange Drive… Youth basketball is for ages 7-12 and the cost is only $40… You can register daily at The Ridge from now until November 23rd…. If you have any questions call them at 681-7275.


Youth Basketball at the Laurens YMCA… Youth basketball registration is under way at the Laurens Family YMCA for youth 3-6… The cost is $40 and registration will close on January 12, 2020… You can register at the YMCA during normal operating hours and if you have any questions call them at 984-2621


Youth Basketball and Cheerleading at the Clinton YMCA… Registration is also open at the Clinton YMCA for both youth basketball and cheerleading… Youth basketball will be for youth ages 5-12 in 6 appropriate age groupings… Registration will close December 9th and the cost is $50 for Y members and $65 for non-members and financial help is available… Now for more information about this you can click here to open up document about youth basketball and cheerleading by the Y or call them at 833-1555… Register at the Clinton YMCA during normal business hours.


2019 Reindeer Run… The 2019 version of the Laurens YMCA Reindeer Run will take place on 12-14-19… The 5K race will start at 9:00 am and the Fun Run for ages 1-12 will start at 9:05… There is discount for early registration ($25) which will end November 22nd and will be $30 after that… There are also team discount available… You can register at the YMCA or online at:… There is more information on the flyer for the event that you can see if you click here.
