PC Notes:

  • Football Host Charleston Southern… The Blue Hose football team is back at home tomorrow hosting the Buccaneers of Charleston Southern at 1:00 pm at Bailey Memorial Stadium… The Blue Hose are coming off a 24-14 win over Gardner-Webb last Saturday while the 4-6 Bucs are coming off a 27-20 win over the Hampton Pirates last Saturday… Hope you can make it to the game tomorrow but if you can’t you can watch the game on ESPN+ and listen to the game on the PC Sports Network.

CHS Red Devils:

  • Cross Country Headed to State Meet Tomorrow… Both Red Devil cross country teams qualified for the SCHSL State Cross Country Championship Meet which will be held tomorrow… I want to wish both teams Good Luck as they travel to Camden tomorrow to take part in the meet which will take place at the Carolina Cup Course and will start at 9:30… Go Big Red!

 

 LDHS Raiders:

Raiders Host the Rebels in second Round Playoff Action Tonight… Tonight at KC Hanna Stadium the Laurens Raiders will host the Byrnes Rebels in second round action of the Class AAAAA Playoffs… A few facts about the game:

  • The Rebels come into tonight’s game with a 10-1 record finishing second in Region II with a 6-1 record… The Raiders come in with a 9-1 record finishing first in Region I with a 7-0 record.
  • The Rebels only loss was to Region II Champion Dorman by a score of 35-33 on a night where missed extra points hurt them… The Raiders only loss came to Hillcrest by a score of 23-6 where turnovers and missed opportunities hurt the Raiders.
  • Byrens is averaging 42.4 points per game while Laurens is averaging 33.8 points per game…. Their defense is giving up 12.7 points per game while Laurens’ defense is giving up an average of 20.3 points per game.
  • This will be the 19th meeting between the two schools with the Rebels holding an 11-7 record in the previous 18 meetings.
  •  The Rebels have 2 shrine Bowl Players (Rahjai Harris and Buddy Mack) and they also have 2 North All-Star players (Chuck Strickland and Joshua Byrd) while Laurens counters with Shrine Bowler Duane Martin.
  • I hope to see a large crowd at KC Hanna Stadium tonight to support the Raiders… A quick reminder that only SCHSL passes will be accepted at the gate and if you want to skip the line at the ticket booth the only way to get tickets ahead of time is to purchase them online… If you wish to do that, click here.

 Laurens Academy Crusaders:

  • Four Crusader Football Players Pick up Post Season Honors… Yesterday it was announced that 3 Laurens Academy Crusaders had made the 2019 SCISA 8 Man Region II All-Region Team… They are Reles Littleton (Junior, OL/DL), Diamonte Grant (Sophomore, DE/TE), and Cal Robertson (Sophomore, WR/LB)… It was also announced that Thomas Lowry was named the Region II Athlete of the Year… Thomas finished the season completing 157 of 230 passes attempted for 2084 yards and 30 TDs… He also rushed for 822 yards scoring 14 TDs that way… He also played defense where he had 3 pass interceptions and 50 solo tackles… Congratulations to all four of these Crusaders!

  • Friday, 11-15-19… The Raiders will host the Byrnes Rebels in a second round playoff game at KC Hanna Stadium…. We will go live to KC Hanna Stadium about 6:30… No Friday Night Insiders but we will start our coverage at 6:30 with Elmo doing his weekly “predications”… Raider football can always be heard on the internet at www.wlbg.com

 

Laurens County TD Club

  • The Laurens County Touchdown Club meets every other Thursday at noon out at The Ridge the City of Laurens Parks and Recreation Headquarters on Exchange Drive…. If you would like to see the entire schedule and information on how to join the club, click here.
  • The next meeting is November 21st and in addition to the local high school coaches talking about their past and upcoming games, it will be the annual Carolina – Clemson day.

 Raider Softball Chicken Stew Fund Raiser… The Laurens Raider softball team is selling chicken stew to help raise funds for equipment travel and other expenses that are not fully covered by district funds… The stew will be cooked on Friday, November 15 and will be ready for pick up the next day (Saturday, November 16) at the Hickory Tavern Fire department… The stew will be $8 per quart and to order yours see any member of the Raider softball team either varsity or JV players… You can also contact Coach Smith to order your stew… Her email address is: mesmith@laurens55.org… Don’t wait too long to order you stew, I already have!

 

 Youth Basketball at the Ridge… Youth basketball registration in now underway at The Ridge the City of Laurens Parks and Recreation Headquarters on Exchange Drive… Youth basketball is for ages 7-12 and the cost is only $40… You can register daily at The Ridge from now until November 23rd…. If you have any questions call them at 681-7275.

 

Youth Basketball at the Laurens YMCA… Youth basketball registration is under way at the Laurens Family YMCA for youth 3-6… The cost is $40 and registration will close on January 12, 2020… You can register at the YMCA during normal operating hours and if you have any questions call them at 984-2621

 

Youth Basketball and Cheerleading at the Clinton YMCA… Registration is also open at the Clinton YMCA for both youth basketball and cheerleading… Youth basketball will be for youth ages 5-12 in 6 appropriate age groupings… Registration will close December 9th and the cost is $50 for Y members and $65 for non-members and financial help is available… Now for more information about this you can click here to open up document about youth basketball and cheerleading by the Y or call them at 833-1555… Register at the Clinton YMCA during normal business hours.

 

2019 Reindeer Run… The 2019 version of the Laurens YMCA Reindeer Run will take place on 12-14-19… The 5K race will start at 9:00 am and the Fun Run for ages 1-12 will start at 9:05… There is discount for early registration ($25) which will end November 22nd and will be $30 after that… There are also team discount available… You can register at the YMCA or online at: www.active.com… There is more information on the flyer for the event that you can see if you click here.
