College Sports:

Bowl Game Results from Yesterday:

  • Citrus Bowl: Alabama 35 – Michigan 16… In this game Michigan put up a good fight leading 16-7 early in the second quarter and 16-14 at the half but the Tide rolled in the second half scoring 21 unanswered points to take the 35-16 win. .. For more information click here.
  • Outback Bowl: Minnesota 31 – Auburn 24…. Meanwhile down in Tampa Minnesota and Auburn got together in the Outback Bowl… Both teams scored 10 points in the first quarter but in the second quarter Minnesota outscored Auburn 14-7 to lead 24-17 at the half… Both teams offense slowed down in the second half only scoring one TD each as Minnesota held on to take a 31-24 win…. For more details click here.
  • Rose Bowl: Oregon 28 – Wisconsin 27… In arguably the best game of the day from the average football fan’s point of view occurred in the Rose Bowl out in Pasadena yesterday where Oregon and Wisconsin faced off… The game was close all the way with Wisconsin leading in most statistical categories like total offense (322 yards to 204) but still lost in a thriller 28-27 to the Ducks… One reason contributing to this was the fact that Wisconsin fumbled 3 times and lost them all…. Sorry Nick Herman… For more details click here.
  • Sugar Bowl: Georgia 26 – Baylor 14… And finally in case you did not stay up to finish watching it last night, the Sugar Bowl was won by Georgia which defeated Baylor 26-14… The Bulldogs led 19-0 at the half and held on as Baylor outscored them 14-7 in the third quarter but held them scoreless the rest of the way… For more information on this game click here.
  • Upcoming Bowl Games… Now there are 5 more bowl games left not counting the College Football Playoff National Championship Game on January 13th… Two of those bowl games are today the Birmingham Bowl and Citrus Bowl… For more information on these, other upcoming bowl games and results from those already completed, click here.

Pro Sports:

NFL: The NFL regular season wound up this past weekend and the playoffs are starting this weekend so let’s do a little catching up

  • Panthers… The Panthers finished last in the NFC South with a 5-11 record… cam Newton was hurt most of the season but that might have been a good thing… Two weeks before the season ended the Panthers fired Ron Rivera their head coach since 2011 (a mistake???)…. He was named the new head coach of the Washington Deadskins (Redskins) this who finished with a worse record than the Panthers (3-13)… Look for them to improve.
  • Atlanta Falcons… The falcons finished the season 7-9 which earned them second place in the NFC South behind the New Orleans Saints but not good enough to make the playoffs… Sorry guys at the House of Pizza!
  • Final Standings… Now if you would like to see the final standings for the entire NFL, click here
