Laurens Academy Crusaders: The Laurens Academy Crusaders went down to Greenwood last night to take on the Greenwood Christian Academy Hawk in non-region action.

  • G: GCA 43 – LA 39… In varsity girl’s action, a poor first quarter for the Crusaders that saw them score only 5 points while the Hawks scored 11 wound up costing the Crusaders as they fell to the Hawks by a score of 43-39… After the first quarter the two teams played even until the last one where the Crusaders outscored the Hawks 14-12 but that was just not enough to make up for the first quarter deficit… Blair Quarles had a game-high 16 points to lead the Crusaders and Reagan Williamson was also in double-digits with 13 points… Olivia Huck finished with 6 points, SG Natiello 2 and Payton Breen 2… The Crusaders are now 10-4 on the season.
  • B: LA 56 – GCA 42… Now there is better news where the boys are concerned as the Crusaders took a 56-42 win over the Hawks… The Crusaders only led 26-23 at the half but they came back out in the third quarter and outscored the Hawks 15-6 to take a lead they would only add to in the fourth quarter… The Crusaders were led in scoring by Caio Rita who led all scorers with 23 points… Luke Kerber was also in double-digits as he finished with 10 points… Diamonte Grant scored 9 points, Clarence Bertoli 7, Andrew Codington 3, Thomas Lowry 2 and Cal Robertson 2… The team is now 7-8 on the season.

  • HT 41 – GCO 11In girls action it was the Faith Jackson Show as she scored 29 of the HT Panthers 41 points as the Panthers took a 41-11 win over the Tigers… The Panthers used their press to take a 21-7 lead at the half and continued it pretty much the rest of the game and actually held the Tigers scoreless in the third quarter in route to the win… Destiny Anderson finished with 10 points for the Panthers and Elinda Redrick scored 2… Jada Wright was the leading scorer for the Tigers as she finished with 5 points… Kathreen Billig, Madison Landrith, Ciana Mumford and Iesha Mack each had 2 points for the Tigers…
  • B: GCO 38 – HT 35… In the boys game, the Tigers turned the tables as they took an exciting 38-35 win over the Panthers … The game was close all the way with GCO leading 11-6 at the end of the first quarter and keeping just about that margin the whole night long,,, The Panthers never gave up and did get to within a point late in the game but the Tigers hot the clutch shots when needed… For the GCO Tigers Terry Cunningham had a game-high 16 points and Jaylen Simpson was also in double-digits with 14 points… Andrew Aguilar finished with 4 points, Johnathan Shubert 2 and Jermaine Cheeks 2… Maddox Holtzclaw was the only Panther in double-digits as he scored 11 points… Mason Aiken finished with 7 points as did Jaymon Jackson while Austin Rice rounded out the Panther scoring with 2 points.
