Murder Suspect in Custody

From Spartanburg County Detention Center

A man wanted for a January murder in Laurens County was arrested yesterday afternoon by the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office. Laurens County Sheriff Don Reynolds praised the Spartanburg Sheriff’s Office and Mauldin City Police for “Great Work” leading to the arrest of 30-year-old Hakeem Qudell Evans of 121 Jackson Street, Laurens. Booked at 5:30 last evening in the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, Spartanburg charges served overnight were Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol and Possession of a Firearm by a Violent Felon.

Hakeem Evans is wanted by Laurens County for charges of Murder, Armed Robbery and Possession of a Weapon During Commission of a Violent Crime. He’s accused of the 3:00 am murder of Rasham Walker of Clinton at a Walker Avenue residence just outside Laurens on January 23rd.

Sheriff Don Reynolds last evening said, “I am grateful that no one was injured during the apprehension of this dangerous individual. It is unfortunate that Mr. Evans so callously took the life of another. We have reason to believe Mr. Evans had a gang affiliation and this shows the utter disregard these gangs have for human life. Our investigators worked tirelessly on this case and I greatly appreciate the assistance of other agencies involved in capturing Mr. Evans. I hope that the Walker family can breathe knowing that he is behind bars tonight.”
