Sports Report for Thursday, 2-13-2020

Local Notes:

 LDHS Raiders:

Basketball: The Raider varsity basketball teams traveled up to Easley HS last night to take on the Green Wave in a pair of region games that had been postponed due to bad weather from last week.

  • G: EHS 64 – LDHS 45… When the Lady Raiders played Easley at home back in early January the Raiders took a 44-33 win… Well last night the Green Wave extracted a measure of revenge as they rolled to a 64-45 win over the Raiders…. They outscored the Raiders 24-17 in the first half and then continued to outscore the Raiders in each of the last two quarters to take the win… Coach Yoneko Allen said the bid difference between this game and the first game with Easley was the poor defensive play by the Raiders… The Green Wave had three players scoring in double-digits while the Raiders had only one… Qua Fortson was that player whom had a game-high 15 points… Aija Davis finished with 6 points as also did MK Moore, Ashanti Conway 4, CaDayzhia Grant 3, Raniya Jackson 3, and both Mackenzie ward and MaCayle Revis finished with 1 point each…. The Raiders are now 4-15 on the season 2-10 in region play.
  • B: EHS 71 – LDHS 65 in OT… Just like the girls’ team, the Raider boys’ team also defeated Easley back in January by a score of 51-49… Again similar to the girls’ game the Green Wave took a measure of revenge as they defeated the Raiders 71-65 in overtime… The Raiders jumped out to a 15-5 lead after 8 minutes of play and stretched that to 36-20 at the half… The Green Wave picked up their defense and offense coming out of the locker room in the third quarter as they outscored the Raiders to make it 49-45 going into the final 8 minutes of play… The Raiders continued to struggle on offense in the fourth quarter and when the buzzer to end it sounded they found the game tied at 58-58… In the overtime the Raiders continued to struggle offensively as the Green Wave outscored the Raiders13-7 to take the win… Leonard Williams had a game-high 28 points to lead the Raiders’ offense and Dee Foster was also in double-digits with 16 points all coming in the first half… Josh Cureton finished with 7 points, Dra Copeland 5, JQ Fair 5, Nigil Owens 2, and KD Mosley 2… The Raiders fall to 6-16 on the season and 2-10 in region play.
  • Raiders at Home Tonight and Tomorrow… The Raiders will play their final two games of the regular season tonight and tomorrow both at home… They will host the Woodmont Wildcats tonight and the Greenwood eagles tomorrow… we do plan on bringing you all 4 of these games her on Real Radio WLBG.
