Habitat Donation, Other City Council Matters

Earlier this month, Laurens City Council gave 1st reading, unanimous approval to an ordinance that will donate property to Laurens County’s Habitat for Humanity program. Habitat volunteers help local families build single-family residences to make owning a home possible for lower income families of Laurens County.

Laurens City Council also unanimously approved 1st reading on an ordinance to purchase property at 407 Gordon Street. Attorney Tom Thompson indicated the $3,000 price is well within ballpark of fair market value. Mayor Senn told council that this is a landlocked property surrounded by city property and the current property owner came to the city to request the purchase.

Also at the March regular meeting, Laurens City Council unanimously gave 2nd reading approval to an ordinance that established standards for the placement of “Small Cell” wireless facilities.
