Sports Report for Monday, 5-25-2020

Local Notes:

Little League Getting Ready to Start… I got an email from Jason Pridgen the City of Laurens Parks and Recreation director stating that Laurens Little League (L3) is in the process of restarting its season… It stated in part “With the latest information from the Governor, practices will be beginning on June 1st and games will resume on June 15th. Over the next week we will be preparing rosters and practice schedules but all players should be ready to begin”… Now I have heard through the rumor mill that the Clinton YMCA Dixie Youth Program may be getting ready to do the same… I’ll touch base with them today and try to conform this and get more details if available… Let’s hope we will be hearing “Play Ball” all around the country before too long!

  • Keselowski Get the Win by Staying Out… In case you did not stay up late last night to see the finish of the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte last night Brad Keselowski took the win in a race that has a rain delay of just over an hour at lap 50 and went overtime actually going 607.5 miles… A late race caution with 2 laps to go saw several drivers pit but not Keselowski as he stayed on the track and then took the lead on the restart at lap 404 and beat Jimmie Johnson to the finish line by just       .293 seconds to take the win… However Johnson’s failed a post-race inspection and was disqualified giving Chase Elliott the second place finish… For more on this race click here… To see the entire order of finish click here.
  • Xfinity Series Races Tonight… Now a quick reminder that the Xfinity Series will take to the track tonight at Charlotte for a 300 mile race that is scheduled to at 7:30 if there is no rain.
  • NASCAR TV Schedule for the Week… To see the NASCAR broadcast schedule for this week click here.
