Resisting by Assault, Failure to Stop

A Western Laurens County man was held in Laurens County overnight after an alleged assault on a deputy and failing to stop for blue lights. 37-year-old Michael James Coffman of Old Ashville Road, Hendersonville is charged with Resisting Arrest and 1st Failure to Stop for Blue Lights. He’s also charged with an Uninsured Motor Vehicle violation, Driving a Vehicle without Insurance and Driving under Suspension of his license.

Mr. Coffman is accused of failing to stop when signaled to do so by means of siren and flashing lights yesterday, alleging this was after he had assaulted an officer while resisting arrest. He’s further accused of operating a motor vehicle without proper insurance and with it being unregistered and while his license to drive was suspended.

Michael James Coffman remained in the Johnson Detention Center this morning, awaiting a bond hearing.
