COVID-19 Related:

  • Greenville county Schools Suspend Athletic Summer Workouts… Well in case you missed hearing this on the late local news last night I’ll tell you that athletic summer workouts for all Greenville County schools have been suspended until further notice… They are also postponing Academic Recovery Camps until at least July, 20… In making the announcement Greenville County Athletic Director Darryl Nance said it was NOT because of an outbreak of COVID-19 among their teams already working out… He said it was done out of an abundance of caution because of the spike in the number of case across Greenville County lately… For more on this click hereto go to the Greenville News online.

  •  SCHSL Executive Committee Make Guidelines Mandatory… As you may recall back in late May the SCHSL issued some suggested guidelines for team to follow as they returned for summer workouts starting June 1… If you don’t remember what the Phase I Guidelines were click here to go to the SCHSL website where they are listed… After they were released was asked what would be the penalty if these guidelines were not followed… His stock answer was “we may not have fall sports”… Well yesterday the SCHSL Executive Committee had a virtual meeting and after much discussion concerning the increase of COVID-19 cases across the state they voted to make those guidelines required and if not followed or do more than the guidelines allow it would be an illegal practice and would be subject to penalties… Now time does not allow me to list the specific penalties for 1, 2 and 3 times in violation but they do include fines, loss of practice days and scrimmages and can go as high as not being allowed to host any events and be the home team in playoffs… To see the complete list of penalties enacted click here.
