Searching for Shooting Suspects

Law Enforcement from Greenwood County and Newberry County were conducting an intensive search at the Western Newberry community of Chapells last night, following a shooting of multiple individuals in the City of Greenwood. Greenwood County Deputies were given a description of a Kia automobile that was involved in the event. Greenwood County Deputies gave chase and the vehicle stopped at the Chappells Crossroads of Highways 34 and 39, with two subjects fleeing in the woods toward the Saluda River.

The suspects were described as black males, one slender build wearing blue jeans, the other shorter and stockier build wearing khaki pants and a black shirt. It is not known whether they are armed, but due to the nature of the crime, the suspects should be considered armed and dangerous.

Greenwood County and SLED tracking teams were being utilized as well as aviation assets.

An update at 2:00 this morning indicated that one suspect was in custody, found hidden in the Old Town area of Chappells.
