1st Degree Arson Alleges Incendiary Device at Occupied Residence

Charges have been served in connection with an alleged incident Saturday outside Clinton. The Sheriff’s office has charged 32-year-old Derick Randolph Canfield of Torrington Heights, Clinton with 1st Degree Arson and Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Convicted of a Violent Felony.

He is accused of committing the crime of arson in that he did constructed an incendiary device and set it to where it would set fire to the residence on Torrington Heights Road Saturday while the residence was occupied and that this had the potential to cause great bodily injury or death to the occupant. He is further accused of having a round of .380 ammunition and a criminal history that indicates he is prohibited from having ammunition.

Derrick Randolph Canfield remained in the Johnson Detention Center this morning, awaiting a bond hearing.
